EXCELLENT mount! I installed this in a 2006 G35 Sedan without any problems at all and it looks like it belongs. For a regular Joe/Jane, this mount will work just fine.

As for it being an old mount that could be made in a machine shop 20 years ago--well, that is under a pretty BIG assumption that everyone can machine parts or has the time to find a shop that would do such a small job for you (at a similar price) umm.... yeah... good luck!

I've posted some pics of the installed mount on a real vehicle. It looks great and matches nicely to the car. The installation was easy. The most difficult part was to make sure the stem of the mirror was perpendicular to the car. Came with all necessary tools and cleaning pad. Very good service and communication. I received the mount only a couple of days after the order. They emailed me before sending the mount to make sure they send the best mount for the install. I've repositioned the detector since I last took the pictures. The detector is now completely flushed against the mirror. The bottom of the mirror helps stabilize the detector. I feel that it's better this way because now there's no vibration or bounce to the detector.

This is a really great mount for people who don't want to attach their radar detector to the front windshield with suction cups. The mount is very adjustable but you probably need to be able to keep the portion of the mirror stem that this connects to pointed directly down the center of the car to give the best coverage (up and down angle is not important, but side to side angle keeps your detector from pointing too far left or right). They may want to add a swivel in future designs to make sure its compatible with all cars and peoples' angle preferences for their mirrors. My mirror is adjustable enough so that this was a non issue for me.

The mount is very sturdy and stable. I added a small piece of Velcro under my mirror and on top of the radar detector though because I have pretty stiff after market springs and bad roads, so sometimes the detector would tap against the bottom of the mirror going over pot holes. For those with a normal suspension, this should be a non issue as well. After spending several hundred dollars on a radar detector, this is a worthwhile investment to keep your detector inconspicuous and prevent if from falling off the windshield.

This is a very well constructed product "blends" right in with the car for an OEM look. If you have mirror that is self dimming or has a compass I recommend pairing this with product like InvisiCord (taps into your mirror to power the detector) to eliminate any power cords hanging down from the window. Overall I am very pleased with the form and function of this product, and recommend it to anyone who wants a nice clean sturdy installation.

This is a great product. Very well made. Works exactly as described. Clear directions. Mounts the radar detector neatly and securely under the mirror. Company rep called me to verify the vehicle model.

Easy to install, looks great and holds the detector stable. Great customer service, they called me before shipping to confirm my car model and options installed in my mirror. I will be buying a mount for my wife's car.

Perhaps Vlladimir Gartstein can make a better unit at the same or lower price, but I would not trust anyone to machine anything for me (or to comment on someone else's work) who spells so badly (he even spelled Vladimir wrong!)

I purchased the Blendmount to mount my Beltronics 995 radar detector in my Altima. Previously, I had used some heavy-duty hook & loop fasteners to attach the detector to the top of the dashboard. I wasn't happy of how attractive the detector would look to potential thieves so I purchased the Blendmount because it positions the detector inconspicuously below the rear view mirror. When parking the car, I can unplug the coiled power cord from the unit and you would barely notice the detector was there at all. You could even directly wire the detector to your car to avoid the coiled cord altogether and make for more of a "stealth" install.

When installing the Blendmount, it takes a few minor adjustments to make sure the detector is properly positioned-- loosening/tightening 2 screws is all it takes. Just be careful when loosening the screws not to let them pop out on you. I actually lost one of the screws but luckily, the Blendmount came with 2 extra screws as well as a mini allen wrench to tighten/loosen the screws.

The Blendmount has a tab that you can depress when you want to remove the detector from the mount (like when you're in a bad neighborhood). It makes it easy to slide your detector off so that you can put it in your glove compartment or take it with you.

INSTALL TIP: When determining the final position of your Blendmount (and before you tighten the screws), make sure that the final position of the Blendmount allows you to be able to slide the detector on and off the mount-- without any movement to the "arm" of the Blendmount. Otherwise, movement of this "arm" will eventually loosen the screw holding it in place causing the arm and your detector to wobble.

Overall, it's a GREAT way to mount your Escort or Beltronics detector. Well worth the money!

all i can say is this was the good money spent. the mount holds the escort perfectly and securely with no more worries about it falling off. i will be in the market for another soon for my other vehicles

If you don't mind spending the extra $$, this mount is the best I've found. I own a 9500i and have tried various mounts, but this one is by far the best (and most expensive).
It does take a little time to fiddle around with the adjustment screws and brackets and get everything positioned "just right," but once you have everything locked into place, this mount is absolutely ROCK solid. The detector doesn't move, bounce, jiggle, rattle, etc. Because of its intelligent design, you have virtually infinite positioning possibilities. Height, depth, angle, etc. are all fully adjustable. You're probably not just gonna pop this on your mirror and be done with it, but the extra time spent positioning it will be well worth it. For those who are anal about positioning, etc., this mount is the cream of the crop.

Also, positioning your detector below the mirror provides for an overall better position for your detector. Generally you want the detector mounted pretty much smack dab in the middle of your windshield - not low on the dash and not high on a visor for example. Below the mirror is pretty darned close to perfect. As for laser reception, I don't have any first hand experience with problems of this sort, but I've always been of the opinion that unless you are running a state of the art laser jamming system, laser detection is a complete waste of time. The only thing laser detection does is (maybe) alert you to the fact that you've ALREADY been nailed. Frankly, I turn off laser detection completely - it's pointless and I'd rather just save the processing cycles on my detector's CPU.

That all being said, the ONLY issue I can see is when using this in a vehicle that is shared by different people who may readjust the rear view mirror positioning. Depending on your type of mirror and how it adjusts, moving the mirror results in the mount also changing positions. And this is not the type of mount that is quickly readjusted on the fly. Once you have this baby mounted and positioned, you'll probably not want to have to mess with it anymore, because repositioning can be tedious. So for those who share a vehicle, you may want to take this into consideration. However, for those who will be the only ones using this and won't be readjusting mirror positions, it won't be an issue.

In my case, I have it mounted so the top of the detector actually touches the bottom of my mirror, which provides for an even more solid position. The disadvantage is that accessing the button controls on the top of the 9500i might be difficult. Also, my stock mirror is quite thick and mounted like it is, the photo sensor on the 9500i is blocked, which means the auto-dim feature on the 9500i cannot work properly (it always thinks it's dark out and keeps the display on dim). This means I need to manually adjust the brightness using the finger controls. Not a big deal and really not a fault of the mount whatsoever, but something you might want to take into consideration if you buy this mount and use it in a similar fashion.

If anyone REALLY wants more details, contact me and I'll snap a few photos or even a video of my actual setup. I'm using this in a 2006 Hyundai Azera.

But in summary, this mount tops anything I've ever tried BY FAR and I'm totally satisfied with it. Been using it for almost a year now.

The Blendmount is easy to install and takes the hassle out of keeping your radar detector properly mounted. No more suction cups that flatten out and fail to work on cold windshields. All in all, I was so pleased with my purchase that I bought another one for my other car.

This item is the greatest! I live in Florida and rubber suction cups just don't last long here in the heat. Once you have it installed, it stays there forever. This is really, really a great idea. I wish I had of come up with this idea first.
