I am glad I gave this a chance.

I had heard that this was not a funny movie. I had a rent one get one free code from Redbox. So, I rented this. I am glad that I did.
The movie is all about two people who meet. Things do not go very well. Then end up both getting a trip to Africa. They see one another while there. Some how, they both have to stay in the same place. They end up really being forced to do things together. They also have children. The movie is about them learning to open up, relax and realize that they are right for one another.
I laughed a lot throughout this movie, as did my stepfather. My mom was not a fan.
This had simple, fun humor. Sometimes, that is all you need.
I would say this movie is ok for any age to watch.
I am a sucker for family movies. Though it was a simple movie, I still got excited when good things happened. It just made me feel good. I am very happy I rented and gave this movie a chance.
Oh, it was fun seeing the guy who played George from the Wedding Singer. HAHA
So, all the good things, why a three out of five?
Well, as good and funny as the movie was, it really was simple humor. Sometimes, things seemed to happen just to set up a joke, they had no point. There seems to be a story, but it is very thin.
You never really spend enough time with their kids to care about any of them. You see a girl has an image problem and a boy is a bit of a nut, but you just have no reason to care about either of them. I wish they had done more with them.
One part has one of their kids, a daughter, not feeling good about her self. People think she is a guy. She gets a makeover and feels great. She was already beautiful. The thing they did with her hair and the stuff they had her wearing, did not work. She was too thin to have her hair like that and the outfits made her look even younger. It, like other things in the movie just felt forced.
While I liked this movie, I can see no reason to buy it. Once you see it, you see it. I mean, this is the type of movie in which you will know every part, as soon as it starts. I kind of feel like I had seen the ending and this movie was starting in the middle of that, maybe because the story was simple or because Sandler and Barrymore had been in movies like this before. It was just nothing new.
The parts with Barrymore's husband, felt very overdone. I mean, wow, it is like a box from Amazon got on stage and started acting. It felt very week and all of a sudden. It is as if they realized they needed some more time in the movie, so they put it in. It just didn't do anything for the movie, except make me roll my eyes.
So, in the end, this was a fun family movie. It felt almost like a TV movie. It has been done a million times, but it was still fun to watch. The story was kind of week and you never get a chance to learn about or care about the kids. I am happy to have watched it though and I think it would be fun for the entire family.
Also, all of these people seemed happy. Not the characters, but the actors. It is hard to explain. You know how sometimes, you will see someone at work, a store or just walking outside and you say to yourself, wow, that guy looks like he is really happy? That is the feeling I got. Like everyone was having a lot of fun and really enjoyed what they were doing. It was a good feeling.
I was thinking more about this movie. I think it would have made a much better made for TV movie. There just was really nothing happening. So many things happen, that just seem completely random. On top of that, they have no conclusion. Stuff like the guy that the girl likes. The daughter I mean. That just happens. I mean, she gets a make over and that is it, she is ready to go out with guys. Just seems like they thought of the easiest, fastest way to get a pint across. There are so many things in this movie like that. They happen and that is it. I kind of feel like this could have been like 80 minutes long. Oh well, I did laugh.
