5.0 out of 5 stars How to talk to your MRC (Mixed Race Child), January 30, 2010

This review is from: Blended Nation: Portraits and Interviews of Mixed-Race America (Hardcover)
I have a 13 year old and an 11 year old daughter and growing up African-American/French/Cherokee was really hard for me. Needless to say I grew up an and angry Black male. Becasue of this I have focused my doctoral dissertation on this very subject. This book is one you should read through with your children and with all children. This text is something my wife (German) can look to and see (if only briefly) what our children are facing and will have to face. This text gives our whole family the strength to face diversity with pride. The stories are both heart warming and heart breaking. This text makes it possible for my daughters to see form thoes who have live through it what is is like growing up mixed raced. It is not just "dad talking" about "how hard it was growing up" I thank the authors for helping me take a breath together. This is a book I will treasure forever, that is if my daughters don't sneak it away before I buy my second and thrid copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book on a growing segment of the American population, October 31, 2009

This review is from: Blended Nation: Portraits and Interviews of Mixed-Race America (Hardcover)
Mike Tauber and Pamela Singh have produced an interesting book containing pictures and commentaries about the children of interracial parents in America. The book is made very relevant after the recent refusal of a southern Justice of the Peace to marry an interracial couple because he, "was afraid of what might happen to their children".

Excellent coffee-table type book with short biographies of multiracial people. I would recommend this book for anyone wanting a beautiful, interesting book in their collection.
