I used their competitor - VitaMix for many years. I saw a demo of the BlendTec & was most impressed, in fact, VitaMix has changed their motor base to do the same functions as a BlendTec. The problem with the VitaMix jar is cleaning the inside because it is narrow down near the blade. I have the BlendTec 3" blade jar & it is a vast improvement to the VitaMix but their new 4" Wild Side jar with its 5 sided design is outstanding!!! The bigger blade & that extra side makes a huge difference & I blend smoothies everyday using frozen fruit. I am very experienced with blending & have done it daily for 2 decades & highly recommend the BlendTec with the Wild Side jar.

This was so expensive I almost didn't buy it, but I'm SO glad I did! I've been using it about a month, and it's just what I needed to really make my life perfect right now.

I used to make a green smoothie in the am, which gave my husband & I a large glass each and then some left over for my daughter (she didn't want as much at first). Then I'd make one again in the evening, which we would all share. Now everyone wants more GS, because they make us feel so great throughout the day - so I got this.

This allows me to make larger batches, so we have some right then, my husband takes a thermos to work, then the rest goes into another thermos & into the fridge. When anyone wants a smoothie, they can shake the thermos and voila!

I know that fresh is best, but practically speaking there are times when I say, "I'll make it in a few minutes" and then it's 2 hours later. With this, I can definitely say that not only am I having 2-3 times more smoothie in a day, but so is my family - and we can all tell how much better we feel! This makes it worth the initial $$ output, in my opinion. So I still make 2-3 green smoothies per day but there is now enough to keep everyone happy & smiling.

It's also great for making raw soups in large enough quantity for dinner for three or four.
It's easier to clean, since it's bigger (not that the standard size is difficult to clean).
It does seem to blend a little easier, with the 'wild side'.

Can't comment yet on longevity; for the price I hope it holds up for years, but even if it doesn't, I'd say that it's worth it just for the added health it's providing my family.

I still use the smaller size that came with my Blendtec all the time for other raw recipes, but for Green Smoothies and Soups, I always reach for this.

I gave this jar 4 stars because of the high price, that said this jar was designed to work on the blendtec home models the blade was engineered not to overload the motor unlike the commercial blendtec jar that is almost identical except for the blade and lid (beware do not use the commercial jar on the home units). The performance of this jar in my opinion is 50% better than the standard jar it has 5 sides, 4'' blade and a 3 quart capacity. I use my blender 1 to 3 times daily for my raw diet in that case I could justify the expense of upgrading.

This was a wonderful blender container. I had upgraded it from the 4 sided one on my old K-tec blender, I loved the extra capacity, and with my larger family, I invested in 2 of them.

However, only after a couple of years, the gears started grinding. There was smoke, and my smoothie had a horribly oily/rubbery taste to it. I kept burping up the taste all morning. Fortunately I figured it out before the rest of the family had any, but it wasted several bananas, a bag of frozen pineapple and several handfuls of spinach, down the drain. I'm sure it is non-toxic but I'm feeling a bit queasy. Have contacted Blendtec in hopes that they will offer to repair it, because for $95 you'd think the container would last a good 5 or more years.

EPIC - I upgraded from the original sized blade/jug. Now with the larger blade and lower profile jug bottom I can juice greens and add less water for suspending the mixture. Greener green juicing and finer pulp after pressing. I feel like i have a brand new blender. Simply Spectacular. Much easier to reach in and clean than the VitaMix or even the oricinal BlenTech jug/blade combo

This covers all my juicing / smoothie / adult beverage / soups / fondue / ice cream / syrups / ice crushing / blend anything & everything needs.

If you are in transition to a more plant based diet and need a boost - get this blender and get going. I feel great after taking animal products out of my diet. without this blender setup it would be nearly impossible for me to keep up with a raw veggie centered meal plans.

upgrade today without question.

I make fabulous 64 oz green smoothies every single day....and the regular container for my Blendtec wasn't holding enough,. So I ordered this one thinking I'd have extra room, Well, in keeping with my "more is better" personality, I now fill THIS one up all the way.....green smoothies are an optimal way to start your day!! We also make soups (ready to eat and steaming hot when blender stops) and many other items. Our Blendtec is at 1493 uses today.........incredible!

I bought the Blentec (coffee color) with the standard container (2Qt). But soon realized that having more chunks of veggies or fruits cause blending to not get to top ones without shaking. So I bought this 3Qt container separately and it was able to process chunks better - virtually no shaking if not too lazy with overloading... It's also much faster in processing with longer blade.

The price is up there unfortunately, but the upgrade is necessary for me.

There is no need for the smaller jar. This jar does everything - we use it at least twice a day and we love it!

I like the size of the jar, perfect for daily smoothie for 2 people, however the rubber seal broke into pieces and who knows how much of it me and my wife swallowed. I used it only for 2.5 months, making 1 smoothie a day, at the most 6 times a week, using two modes: speed 10 for 50 seconds and Whole Juice next, every time I made smoothie. I never blended anything hard, such as ice but I do use frozen fruits virtually in every smoothie. I don't think $99 jar should only last 2.5 months. I am currently trying to get a replacement under warranty but found it difficult (my guess is: on purpose) to find any information on how to do it. The item was sold by Amazon,LLC and I just sent email to Amazon with the very question. We will see what happens next. I will update if I will figure out, how.

Update:03.29.2014
I have upgraded it to 4 stars. I got an extremely polite response to my email from Amazon suggesting to contact original manufacturer, first, and if that didn't work then Amazon would take care of my problem. So I did contact Blendtec by phone (number provided by Amazon) and also got very courteous response, without too many annoying questions and was told that Blendtec will ship me a new jar and I should get it within 3 to 5 days, no problem, which I got. Horrey! This I would call Prime Rate Service, both on part of Amazon and Blendtec. So I think this kind of treatment calls for an upgrade of the ratings, even though the product didn't perform as it should by design.

When I purchased our Blendtec blender it came with both the FourSide and the WildSide jars. Both jars perform flawlessly, creating smooth and creamy results. If I'm making a recipe for just myself, I typically grab the FourSide jar because it works best with lower quantity loadings. I rarely make a recipe for just myself though. The greater volume of the WildSide jar is a huge plus, and the jar definitely blends higher volume recipes more aggressively; you can actually see it in the action in the jar while blending. We eat a lot of fruit smoothies (mornings) and vegetable soups (evenings), saving any leftovers in the refrigerator for lunch or snacks. I always grab the WildSide jar to get the desired results and to have healthy leftovers. The FourSide jar is an absolutely fantastic jar compared to other blender jars, but when the time comes to replace a jar we will only buy the WildSide jar because it gives us greater flexibility.
