Blendtec Total Classic Series Blenders

Eliminate the need for other appliances—
at a fraction of the cost.

The Total Blender Classic is the all-in-one appliance that makes smoothies, fresh juice, ice cream, milk shakes, cappuccinos, margaritas, soups, sauces, bread dough, dressings, salsas and more! It replaces up to 9 other appliances with 1 fast, easy-to-use machine. This package includes the new precision–tuned 4" blade in the large, nearly 3-quart, BPA-free WildSide jar. The new large blade and large jar combination powers through tougher blending tasks and larger recipes with ease—and in less time.

ANATOMY OF A BLENDER

FORGET THE WRIST WORKOUT

Blendtec's extra-strong jar material is exceptionally light. So the only thing you need to worry about lifting is your next delicious blend.

HARD CARBON BRUSHES

You didn't know that motors have brushes, did you? They do. And they can wear out quickly. Unless they're made of electrographitic carbon, like in a Blendtec blender. Then they'll last a very, very long time.

STAINLESS STEEL – THE PROFESSIONAL'S CHOICE

Blendtec's ultra-hard stainless steel blades are cold-forged and tuned for heavy use. This allows them to be stronger and resist corrosion much better than lesser blades.

SINGLE BLADE, MANY ADVANTAGES

Blendtec's patented vertical wingtips and precision angles are engineered for ultimate efficiency. The distinct single-blade design allows your ingredients to fall easily in front of the blades.

THE FIGHT AGAINST FRICTION

Friction is the nemesis of all high-powered equipment. Ball bearings reduce friction so you can blend faster and quieter. It's all surrounded by a rubber mount that absorbs the shock produced by blending ice and frozen fruit.

POWER FOR THE PEOPLE

The most powerful motor available for home blenders is at the heart of your Blendtec experience. More power means easier blending of the most stubborn ingredients.

SAFETY MATTERS

Be assured that even a blender as powerful as a Blendtec blender is ETL certified, which means it meets national safety standards.

DOES YOUR BLENDER—HAVE A BRAIN?

Most blenders are dumb. It's pretty much "go" and "stop," with a few speeds in between. But a Blendtec looks after itself – monitoring everything from speed to operating temperature to motor safety. All while ?flawlessly executing pre-programmed blend cycles.

NO DETAIL TOO SMALL

Even the smallest parts in a Blendtec product have received big attention from our engineers.

Blade assembly nut

Round and smooth for easy cleaning—and—permanently attached at the factory – adding to jar safety.

Bearing assembly

Sonically welded into the jar for extra strength and durability.

SEE IT, USE IT

Out of sight, out of mind? Forget it. Blendtec's small size and low profile mean you can store your blender in plain sight right where you can use it most — on your countertop.

ONE-TOUCH PERFECTION

We've done all the trial and error so you don't have to. Pre-programmed blend cycles let you craft perfect food creations with just one touch – from your very first try.

Each Blendtec blender comes with the Fresh Blends recipe book. Each of its 200+ recipes delivers delicious results using blend cycles of 90 seconds or less!

This is a powerful blender, and is comparable to the VitaMix. I love the square design of the container, because it is easy to clean - way easier to clean than the VitaMix, and the blade at the bottom is not sharp, so I don't nick myself when cleaning the bottom of the blender. It is also much easier to scrape the blended goodness out of the bottom of the blender. But I don't like the lid design. The lid is flat and sits flush against the top of the blender. It gets splattered from the force of the blended ingredients. Makes a mess when you open it. This is a real problem when blending in between adding ingredients. Also, the plunger sometimes IS needed - even with a BlendTec, although Blendtec says it is not needed because of the variable speeds on its blender settings. There are times when I wish I had the plunger to just push things down while the blender is on. Instead, I have to take the lid off, which is dripping all over with blended goo, thus making a mess, so I can stir the ingredients because there is no plunger to push the food down into the blades like the VitaMix.

I have owned a Vitamix for 15 years, and it has proven to be a workhorse. The Blendtec seems to be just as strong, and I welcome it to my kitchen. It seems to do an even better job of grinding grains than the Vitamix. No "dry" container is needed. You just use the same container for both wet and dry ingredients. You don't really need a grain mill if you have the Blendtec, as it really does a very good job of blending grains and dry beans very quickly. It also makes nut butters almost instantly.

Overall, the Blendtec is extremely powerful, and meets my needs for what I use it for - I do daily green smoothies. I just wish it had a different lid, and a plunger.

I had a vitamix for 20 years. It was truly a work horse. When it finally went out and I saw a demo at Costco, I decided to switch and get the blendtec, which I've had now for a little over six months.
What I like about the blendtec more: size, it really makes a difference that it fits under my cabinets, so I keep it out all the time and use it more often. Both machines make a perfect smoothie, even a green smoothie, which is what I mostly use the machine for. However, recently I've been making sorbets and ice treats, and the blendtec really struggles without any liquid. The blades freeze up and it makes a horrible sound; which is concerning. I agree with another viewer that it does need some sort of probe tool, to work solid ingredients. At some point, I will probably order the larger 96oz container, which I understand also incorporates ingredients much quicker/easier.
Costco gave an extra four year warranty to Blendtecs standard 3 - which makes it equal to the 7 years of Vitamix, which is nice. If you're undecided about the two, just know that Vitamix really is a tank, perhaps not as pretty sitting on the counter, but it would probably outlast a Blendtec. Both perform very well, so I think it comes down to the look and longevity.

Update: The Blendtec motor died one week after I began making frozen sorbets. Returned it to Costco and bought a new Vitamix 500 from Amazon. I guess the question of longevity has been answered.

I worked at Starbucks for over a year. The only blender we ever used? Blendtec, granted it was the commercial version, but still. It makes frappucinos and smoothies like a dream. The best part? It blends in under a minute.

I scrimped and saved for a blendtec, and I'm hapy I bought one.

This product is so powerful ... with more horsepower than the Vitamix. The Blendtec motor is so strong it does not need sharp blades like what the Vitamix has. It is so easy to wash ... and with its short height, it easily stores in the countertop. Most important of all, it is very durable. Ours (an older model but with a similar motor) has about 4 years of service in the kitchen and more than 1350 cycles to its credit, blending frozen fruits all the time.

The only advantage Vitamix has over this product is that, while Blendtec has a relief hole on the lid of its container, Blendtec does not come with a plunger to push the fruits down when the blades liquefy the fruits at the bottom being blended while the rest of the fruits at the top hang on to each other in their frozen state. Big deal! I easily solved this problem by buying a big composite spoon from Costco for less than 6 dollars a pair and cut one of them to be used as a plunger.

I think all blenders that are designed to blend frozen stuff should come with a plunger. Frozen foods tend to cling to each other. And no matter how strong the motor of the blender, frozen stuffs that cling to each other tend to get suspended in place by the tapered dimension of the jar and don't get sucked/pulled down in the process of blending. What happens is that the strong and very fast action of the blade only creates a "cave" under the frozen stuffs that are stuck to each other. And the only way to produce a "cave in effect" on the frozen stuffs that are stuck to each other is to push them. On this note, Blendtec should provide a plunger for its blenders.

P.S. See the improvised plunger in the image I posted. It hangs about an inch from the blade of the blender for safety reasons. :)
