Professional Blender,
By
This review is from: Blendtec HP-611-FLP Total Blender, White (Kitchen)
The Blendtec is a professional product, made to work, and it does. The power is great; the blades are very strong and take chopping ice everyday as does the motor. We are constantly making smoothies. The cycles programmed in can do a lot of "smoothing without thinking."
It's true, the documentation that comes with it is sparse, but if you feel it's necessary, find a book on blending, on Amazon. You cant judge a professional tool by a recipe book, they expect you to know how to use a blender. I used to go through blenders in about three months, even the very high priced Braun went in less than 6 months (it cost a grand). My first Blendtec is now 2 years old, and all I had to replace is the jar. I now have a second, and won't buy another brand blender anymore.

I've never written a review before, so you know that I must really like this product to take the time to do so. I've owned this blender for almost a year and we absolutely love it. Yes.. it is quite loud at the higher speeds, but come on... it has a 3 hp motor. What would your 4 hp lawn mower sound like in your kitchen? I think the the volume is reasonable considering the raw power of the machine.
Performance: Green smoothies are perfect (try one if you haven't... they're great!). Not even a bit of kale in sight. Occasionally, a piece of frozen fruit ends up as a "lump" in your glass, but otherwise, the blender evenly blends almost anything. (Check out their website.. they have some hilarious videos blending things like rakes, coke cans, marbles, etc.) Service: When we first got the blender, I made a smoothie and I put in an avocado (a bit under ripe) and didn't cut it up... just two halves. Somehow it lodged on the blade and was beat around the inside of the jar. Afterward, the jar had a hazy spot at blade level on all four sides. So, I called Blendtec. Bottom line, I got the jar replaced and an extra jar for my trouble. All without any phone delays and with fedex next day shipping.. Wow! Bottom line: The vitamix is also a good machine, but in my humble opinion, the Blendtec has the complete package. It you're on the fence, go with your instinct and if you choose the Total Blender, you won't be disappointed!

The Total Blender is the best!,

This review is from: Blendtec HP-621-FLP Total Blender, Black (Kitchen)
[...]Their friendly service and blender comparison chart won me over. This blender has been a blessing. I make my own nut milks, soups, smoothies and even nut butters. It is a little loud but not as loud as my Vitamix blender. I use my Total Blender almost everyday and my kids are begriming to use it. It's really easy and fast to clean and is very durable and powerful. I just can't live without it. Highly recommended. :-)

Great product, but needs a tamper,

This review is from: Blendtec HP-621-FLP Total Blender, Black (Kitchen)
I have had the Total Blender (in white) for several months, and I also have the Vita Mix 5000. I find I use the Total Blender almost exclusively. It is lighter, a lot easier for me to handle, and the programmed cycles work well for me. The motor is truly powerful. I would definitely give it five stars, but for the absence of a tamper. The company says it does not need a tamper because of the design of the container, but for the things I make with raw, leafy greens, etc., it definitely needs one, in my opinion. It would be relatively easy for the company to offer a tamper -- just as Vita Mix does -- and I don't understand why they don't do so, perhaps as an extra accessory. It would be lots easier than having to repeatedly stop the motor and remove the cover to push food down towards the blade. Otherwise this is a great product. Another note: If you are a raw food person, don't rely on the recipe book provided for much help. However, whatever works in the Vita Mix works well here.

The Total Blender is the best blender ever!,

I have been using this blender for making raw soups, smoothies, nut milks and making nut butter. I also use it as a juicer by blending my vegetables and passing them through a nut milk bag. It is way better than my old vitamix blender because it does not heat up as fast and can fit under my cupboard. My kids and I love this blender! A+++++

Holy smokes,

This review is from: Blendtec HP-621-FLP Total Blender, Black (Kitchen)
I gotta tell you, this was one of those purchases that I both loved and hated. I loved the idea of it, but hated the idea of my wife telling me that I'd spent a fortune on just-another-blender. I was so convinced, I told her about the Ice Gaurantee and told her if it didn't pass, I'd send it back myself. Still, I worried about it being only mildly better than the old blender.
Well, it arrived and Holy Smokes, this thing is amazing. It truly does turn ice into snow. More importantly, guys, it won't make you look stupid for buying yet-another-overpriced-toy. 3->P->2->S for the perfect smoothy is all I've got to say. Tired of you ingredients sticking to the side? Tired of eating chunks of ingredients? Tired of having to stop mid-way through a blending cycle to shake or push the ingredients down? Buy this thing, it won't make a fool out of you - it's good, really good. It'll display a significant difference between your run-of-the-mill Hamilton Beach or whatever crappy blender you currently have - trust me. It's good, really good. --tim

Bent blade shaft in jar,

For a $400 blender I was expecting a product to outlive me given the rating on Amazon of this product being of commercial grade and able to blend ice cubes into powder. It worked as advertised however through six months of use the blade shaft came loose then eventually jammed, rendering the jar useless. Blendtec refused to replace the jar given I had had it for 13 months.

Buy a vitamix,
This review is from: Blendtec HP-621-FLP Total Blender, Black (Kitchen)
I wanted to like this but am returning it tomorrow. It had nice containers (I thought) was smaller, and the ez touch pad) I bought the EZ as it comes with 2 containers. this was the ONLY difference vs other blendtec according to the company.
NOT so though, as the EZ lacks any recipes(some models include a book). this may have turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I had a vitamix for 12 yrs so I used my vitamix recipes in the blend tec. it is supposed to be a 64 oz container like the vitamix but it will NOT hold 64 oz without over flowing. Tried smoothies, soup and the vitamix holds more! Also some smoothies got stuck and you NEED a pusher or at least a spoon. the auto sut off can be a pain as its not realy that "smart" just timed. it will shut off even if its not done! I was so unhappy I got my vitamix repaired (they will fix out of warranty machines for $95). I then gave the blendtec one more try making bread using the BLEND tec recipe from the website to be fair. I wish I had taped this one. the blend tec repeated over heated, then over loaded. it heated so much that the dough (I had to pull it out, it never formed the ball on the blades). All in all I used every recipe on the blend tec site as well as some from vitamix and the 12 yr old , repaired vitamix (with a 12 yr old container no less) out performed the blend tec every time. vitamix customer service was better as well. I am STILL waiting for any answer from blendtec about a recipe book or the lack of one! Meanwhile my vitmix was shipped, repaired and shipped back. blend tec must know there is a problem with the containers as they recently made a supposedly 96 oz one (probably holds 64!) IF I could have gotten a larger container and a book I might have kept it but its not available for this model. If you really want an ez touch pad buy a waring mx1300 series, they even can use vitamix containers!

square tapered blender is stupid design,
By MC MLXVI (Raleigh NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blendtec HP-611-FLP Total Blender, White (Kitchen)
See title. This is the dumbest design I have ever seen or used. It works ok mostly, but stuff will get "stuck" in the corners sometimes and not get blended well, requiring longer blending times. The larger top portion is problematic in the same way. Stuff will sit up there near the edges because of the horizontal edge at the top. Maybe they know what they are doing. I'm not a mechanical or fluids engineer. All I can say is it doesn't seem to work as good as it could. It also blends a lot of air into the mix becuase of the stupid design. I will say its pretty sturdy and has held up well after 1242 cycles, only having to replace the carafe. I want to get a Vitamix though and compare, hopefully selling this one.
