5.0 out of 5 stars A Multifaceted Album, Showcasing Zakk's Versatility.
This album, is set to put Zakk on the charts.
Zakk Wylde, originally known as Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist, has come into his own in the past 10 years, showing amazing musicianship, unrestrained dedication, and unbridled talent, in his post-Ozzy ventures. Starting with his Southern Rock influenced "Pride and Glory" album, through his piano-driven "Book of...

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid Zakk a little too Solid
Zakk Wylde has spent the better part of his rock career trying to express in as many ways possible what a badass he is. And while this is the rock attitude in the extreme, the very things we all enjoy most in heavy metal, it gets tiring to hear Wylde sing, for the umpteenth time, how he's going to crush you with his war machine while he drinks booze and plays...

4.0 out of 5 stars Good CD, December 8, 2003

Good CD from start to finish although a little disappointed that the riff of Funeral Bell sounds like a ripoff of
Eternal Decisions song Power!!! Other than that it jams.

I was really looking forward to this after the last release of 1919 eternal's blistering jams: not the same supercharged band.
Zakk's playing seems a bit less than the last outing, and the songs less catchy; but, leave it to this guy to make you still keep it in your CD rack for an opener on nights when cold beer is on ice. It's one of those perfect CD's to 'get you in the partying mood' for the next 5 CD's you have waiting in the wings to be cranked full volume.
3 stars for a pleasant jam, it just lacked the songwriting and steroid-like energy that 1919 Eternal had.
3 STAR RATING FROM SCRAGGY'S TOMB OF METAL, USA.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good But....., May 10, 2003

I really respect Zakk's talents, there aren't many guitarists out there today that come close. The problem is that none of the BLS material comes even close to Zakk's Pride and Glory and Book of Shadows in terms of playing and song writing. Zakk is a great slide player, he should showcase more of that. He could have been the next Duanne Allman for crying out loud !!! One problem is that the insanely heavy stuff is a bit generic now and almost interchangable between the last three albums. Come on Zakk do another Book of Shadows !!!!!!

Blessed Hellride was the first Black Label Society album I ever got, and it just kicks ass from beginning to end. It's a great rocking album to listen to especially on a Saturday morning whenever you feeling like rocking out. Zakk Wylde is a f**kin guitar genius. The guy's crushing riffs and man those awesome badass solos of his will make you grin in delight. Great album, buy it now. All hail Zakk Wylde, all hail Black Label Society!

Now here are the grades for all the songs

Stoned and Drunk: A+

Doomsday Jesus: A+

Stillborn: A+ (Favorite song. Ozzy Osbourne even guest sings on this one)

Suffering Overdue: A

The Blessed Hellride: A+ (Nice slow accoustic song)

Funeral Bell: A+ (Another favorite. Kick ass solo)

Final Solution: A

Destruction Overdrive: A+

Blackened Waters: A

We Live No More: A+

Dead Meadow: A+ (Another nice slow song)

5.0 out of 5 stars cotton balls in his mouth, March 26, 2007
This review is from: The Blessed Hellride (Audio CD)
I love how it sounds like zakk wylde has a sock in his mouth when he's singing. The extensive use of harmonics is awesome too, it reminds me of the mushrooms in mario. This is hard stuff that is pure "rock" or "metal". Check out the harmonics to the intro and verse of track 3. This guy is nuts.
