"I thank my God upon every remembrance of you-Philippians 1:3 I am thankful for your clear, uncomplicated communication of Scripture and its doctrinal content. I appreciate this more every year as I associate with leaders in evangelicalism who do not know or understand what the Bible teaches...It is a privilege to thank you, to pay tribute to you, and to extend my best wishes to you on this milestone occasion. And my best wishes to Mrs.Walvoord, who stood by you and helped make it all happen."

Heart warming, encouraging, and inspiring. I could not drop the book!,
This review is from: Blessed Hope: The Autobiography of John Walvoord (Hardcover)
I was transported back into the corridors of history reading the story of the beloved Bible teacher, John Walvoord. From his childhood in pre-Depression days to the end of the 20th century and the passing of a generation and age in the history of Christian America, we get an intimate glimpse into the life of the man who presided over Dallas Theological Seminary, arguably the outstanding and influential Bible school of the United States that has flooded the country with teachers, pastors, and sent missionaries around the world, in its critical evolution into what it is today. His evangelistic and pastoral heart is evident throughout his autobiography, as he weaves in exhortations and wisdom for good and healthy Christian living into his story. I could not help but feel nostalgic for a time I've never experienced, as C.S. Lewis so aptly describes those pangs our hearts feel at times for a home we've never been to, when reading about our nation's past, before it turned against Biblical truth, when DL Moody could kneel down on a train with a man he'd just met a few minutes ago and pray for his salvation, when street corner preachers could spark a revival, when small towns would post signs and farmers would travel when they hear a Bible teacher was in town that night, when marriage was for life. I know I am romanticizing things a bit, but there is truth to the statement that our age is in decline and perhaps nearing the end. I am grateful that Walvoord, with the help of his friend Mal Couch, penned these words in his remembrance before he went home to be with the Lord and his loved ones. We are all blessed by Walvoord, and his unwavering commitment to teaching the Word of God as inerrant Truth, his character to stand firm against all tides and helping preserve DTS the conservative, evangelical rock against the course of this age.
