5.0 out of 5 stars The Blessing
It was a Blessing that David (Fathead) Newman had an unmistakable Voice on the saxophone for 50 years. He maintained that voice against all odds and sounded great right up to the end. He had a wonderful warm spirit and it came right through his horn.

3.0 out of 5 stars 'Fathead' Newman
'Fathead' as he was called during the years he appeared so well with Ray Charles' band from the 50's and on through, seemingly, the 70's or even the 80's. This album, 'The Blessing' is much later and is good - yet it doesn't have the 'soul' that his earlier and younger work with Ray had, in my humble opinion.
