I downloaded the Kindle free sample of this book into my Android. I was gifted with the first 21 pages of this book, which are largely title pages, Library of Congress info and the Table of Contents. After working my way through the Introduction, I landed on an except from the First Prologue of The Rule of St.Benedict followed by the author's understanding and application of the text.After the heady Intro and cascade of chapters in the toc, it appears that the reader would be treated to a generous and very human offering of reflection on each of the main aspects of The Rule. I suspect that those who are familiar with John Michael Talbot's music will read here the source of inspiration for his staggeringly profound and intimate lyrics. Once again, although I was only able to read a very small portion of the work, I can see how this book can be used as a reference for The Rule as well as an invitation to contemplate and meditate at your own pace with a living spiritual master who is delightfully, extraordinarily human. |
