Personal and positive!
I admit, I grew up with hearing about "the CURSE" - and am happy to say I've changed my outlook... at least a little. Seeing my cycle in a positive way by reading the thoughts and feelings of other woman was an eye-opening experiance, one I won't regret.

What's all the fuss about?
I found a copy of this book online for $15, miraculously, and was anticipating an incredible read given the price and reviews of the book. However, I was underwhelmed. The book lacks organization, is repetitive, and unengaging, providing endless stories of different (and sometimes the same!) women's experiences of and personal rituals for menstruation. I found very few...

I found a copy of this book online for $15, miraculously, and was anticipating an incredible read given the price and reviews of the book. However, I was underwhelmed. The book lacks organization, is repetitive, and unengaging, providing endless stories of different (and sometimes the same!) women's experiences of and personal rituals for menstruation. I found very few interesting processes or useful insights here and much prefer The Wise Wound. However, I'm glad that books like this exist, and hope that someone takes the material in this book and reorganizes it into something better.

This is one of the best books on the subject of menstruation, and I wish they would reissue Celu's masterpiece!Filled with anecdotes, storytelling and empathy. |
