3.0 out of 5 stars Good for Group Study
This is a good book to study Blessings and Curses within a group. Blessing or Curse: You can choose is a more in depth personal study on Blessings and Curses. I enjoyed this book on a Biblical basis. But my opinion is that this is written for a group.

This review is from: Blessings and Curses (Biblical Truth Simply Explained) (Paperback)
The premise of this book in the author's own words is that "both blessings and curses are real. Some people accept the fact that blessings are real but are skeptical about curses, which they associate with superstitious medieval practices. Yet we cannot focus exclusively on one aspect of opposites because it is acceptable to us and simply ignore the other. The opposite of hot is cold; both are real. The opposite of good is evil; both are real and in the same way blessings are real and so are curses."

The book explains where curses stem from, how to recognize them and how we can, in Jesus holy name, break these curses in our lives. Powerful stuff! Really made me think!

5.0 out of 5 stars Derek Prince best book, February 27, 2006
This review is from: Blessings and Curses (Biblical Truth Simply Explained) (Paperback)
I grew up in a home environment where our mother used to call us all sorts of negative words. Thirty five years later I see manifestations of those words in members of the family.I therefore identify with what the author is talking about. The book has helped me be a better parent and husband. I now speak positive things over my family regardless of how I am feeling at the time. I have also learnt to see myself the way God see me and speak alound what God says about me. The result? Promotion at work, favour, good family relations, prosperity, honour, peace, good health etc. In short I have applied the principles in the book to my life and found them to be true.

5.0 out of 5 stars helpful in understanding the biblical basis for curses, February 28, 2006
This review is from: Blessings and Curses (Biblical Truth Simply Explained) (Paperback)
I came to this book with some scepticism as well as some understanding of the fact that curses do, in fact, exist in our day. What I liked most is that Prince gives solid, Biblical support for his ideas and does not take scripture out of context. Thought-provoking and useful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clear, Concise, and Balanced, September 12, 2009
This review is from: Blessings and Curses (Biblical Truth Simply Explained) (Paperback)
I must admit that I was apprehensive about reading this book. Although I had come to appreciate the ministry of Rev. Prince, I was wary of my own observation of what I would characterize as extreme teaching on the subject of "generational curses". Yet it is my policy to stick with the Scriptures irrespective of the tendency of some to pervert them. So after these many years of avoiding the subject like the plague, I decided I should seek out a balanced and biblical account of what the Bible says about the matter of blessings and curses.

This small book is easy to read and is clear on the nature of blessings and curses, and is adept at instructing the reader in a practical way as to how to avoid curses and enjoy blessings. Prince's clear explanation of Scripture coupled with his own experiences as a minister make the material both informative and applicable.

Also I would say that Prince's interpretation of his own personal experiences may prove to be too definite at times. I would recommend approaching chapter four, entitled, "Seven Indications of a Curse" with some caution. I am sure that it was not Prince's intention, but I can see how a reader might work themselves up in a frenzy over the fear that they are cursed when that may not be the case. One sure way of inviting demonic interference is an obsession with the kingdom of darkness. In all our learning as to the origin of curses, we do not want to be overly devil-conscious to the extent that we are not sufficiently conscious of the reality of our being redeemed from curses. This is what I feel are the very pitfalls of the extreme generational curse and spiritual warfare teaching.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unorthodox Mysticism, November 17, 2011
This review is from: Blessings and Curses (Biblical Truth Simply Explained) (Paperback)
This is not "biblical truth simply explained," this is deceptive new age thought mixed with Christian vocabulary.

Gal. 3:13
Christ redeemed us of the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree." Nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8). Our words have power, but the key is whether they're rooted in sin or the Spirit. If you are in Christ, fear not of any man made curse.

Very insightful. Many topics have a lot written on them. This topic of curses not much at all. A very important read on the curses. I would highly recommend it. A must read for every Christian

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible!, January 14, 2011

I've understood there is power in our words, after all, it says: the power of life and death are in the tongue. This gives a cohesive understanding of what the Bible says about blessings and curses and how to recognize them in your life. It then gives simple ways to combat and pray against curses for deliverance. I was initially tempted to skip to the end, but I'm so glad I didn't! It's such an easy, short read - not worth it to skip. Nothing overly complex or "uber spiritual" here - just straight forward. I have already felt changes in my life since reading this book!
