An oldie but goodie,

I have owned this book for more than 30 years now. It is one of those that I packed and repack through more than 16 moves. My children and my riding students have all read it and enjoyed it. The horses and horsemanship are realistic and true to life. The story is about try and heart and commitment.

I was deeply touched by the story and struggles of the little blind colt.
The writing is so descriptive. Its almost like you are hearing the colt's thoughts and witnessing his experiences first hand. Reading the authors notes at the end of the book, I find out that this story is at least somewhat based on a real little blind colt that the author knew of back in the early 1900's. That makes this story even more touching and enduring to me. Some younger readers might be upset by a few scenes in the book, but I'd recommend it to slightly older readers or anyone who loves to read about horses.

i thought this book was really good... i was so touched by it i kinda wanted to start to cry... i thought that the colt wasnt going to get away from the wolves but he did anyway because he let the boy help him.. and like i would recomend this book to this book to anyone that loves horses as much as i do and personally i didnt think that the colt was going to live on its own but he grew up into a strong assertive stallion!!!
