For those of us who live in the real world we know that there isn't always a happy ending and sometimes bad things happen, this is the movie for you. This movie features real world instances and raw human emotions that mega movies ("blockbusters") don't have. A great film for anyone who likes movies about actual life instances.

One of the best films I've seen in a very long time,

This movie is not what I expected and what a nice surpirse!!! A long married couple attempting to reconnect by placing personal ads and going on blind dates. No schlocky humor or sight gags. A remake of a foreign film. Slow paced, rich in dialogue. Heartbreaking. Oh and I guess I never really thought about this before but Stanley Tucci... hot.

although the ending was a bit predictable and sad. I really bought into their role playing, and could relate to it, as I have done this on a much simpler level myself. Obviously they could no longer relate to each other except on some level of fantasy. But I thought it was very well done and acted, and it held my attention throughout.

My wife and I turned off the dvd when about 20 minutes into it Stanley Tucci tells his wife that he sodimized his mom and than to bring the point home said that he [...] his mom.
Someone complained about the smoking but wasn't offended by the incest remarks. That's strange. Matt

I thought this was going to be one of those art flicks that kept your attention from beginning to end and made you think . . . got you lost for the duration of it. Not so. It was as if someone wanted to make such a movie . . . so they had a kernal with not much else . . . . They just couldn't develop it. Besides, it was kinda creepy actually.

Get ready - very moving - Stanley Tucci made this film - I saw him when he previewed it at the Sarasota Film Festival - best film of the year! It's a Sophie's Choice kind of film. Difficult, beuatiful, heart-wrenching, way beyond the sitcom crap meant to only distract for 90 minutes. I bought it the second it was available, have shared it with many people who absolutely love it, as well. We don't love it for the action (there isn't any) or the amazing techy tricks (there aren't any) - the film is a work of art. Thank you Mr. Tucci!

Very thoughtful, original,

Enjoyed this movie. It's original and fresh, and it's not the usual remashed stuff Hollywood provides us with when it comes to relationships. So if you're taking a bit of a risk, rather than sticking to the same story told one million times, have a look. Another good film with Stanley Tucci (but directed by Vern Oakley) is A Modern Affair, a film about what it means to love and have a child when the means to getting pregnant have dramatically changed in our modern world. A really good read. I mean, a really good view!

How to make a film as good as this (if not better),

1) Drink a lot of cough syrup.
2) Watch the most stilted, dry, and pretentious French "art films" you can find. 3) Hit yourself in the head with a small hammer. (Only once or twice - unless you want permanent damage.) 4) Write script. Get good actors and make sure they NEVER act like people in the real world. 5) Let the cameras roll. Et Voila!

I got to attend a screening of this movie last year and enjoyed the way the film was shot and the actors' delivery of the script. There is substance and depth to a film which is a pleasant diversion from other movies filled with noisy special effects. Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson were perfect for their parts. Only downside is all the unnecessary smoking (ugh!)
