The very best CD I've ever listened to,
By A Customer
This review is from: Blind Man on a Flying Horse (Audio CD)
Listening to this album, I find it incredible that this band has not succeed, and that this is their only album. I looked for one of its songs (I Can't help falling in you, originally performed by Elvis) for more than three years (it plays at the credit titles of the film 'The Snapper'). I expected nothing from the rest of the album - but much to my joy, it is as good as that song. In short, I find this album a must-have. I will not comment on the style of music it has because I take it that people reading this review arrived at its page for some reason.

Buy the Soundtrack,

If you are looking for the song "Can't Help Falling in Love" from the movie "Some Kind of Wonderful" buy the movie soundtrack. The Tin's CD has two versions of the song but neither comes close in richness and quality to the movie version.

This CD is OUT of PRINT so it will cost you especially for a factory sealed copy. But if you can afford it you should buy it.
Lick The Tins is a Very Rare and unique band and this was their only album before they broke up.

This CD is a joy to listen to. I saw Lick The Tins live several times and they sounded unbelievable! I couldn't recommend this CD more. Here's hoping that they record another one someday.

Unknown to most and yet so deserving of success,

Have been looking for this CD for years. Their song "Falling in Love", an Elvis remake caught my attention in a movie soundtrack. Great first and only effort (to the best of my knowledge) by this band deserving of so much more attention. If you like The Pogues, give these guys a try, you won't regret it.

Fantastic Sound!,

This group is one of kind. I have purchased several copies of this CD over the years for friends and they all love it! It is well worth the money. You have to consider that the private sellers must have to pay high amounts to get copies of this CD so of course it is going to cost the next buyer as well. I have to agree if you can afford this CD by all means buy it now! What a voice and what an album!

What a nice little surprise this album is! I was always intrigued by their cover of "Can't Help Falling in Love" from the Some Kind of Wonderful OST, and have spent a lot of time trying to track down their "other" material. Well, here it is - neatly compiled onto a single CD. The other tracks here are quite good to exceptional, with quirky arrangments and catchy melodies. A great bunch of songs if you like Irish-sounding folk/pop/new wave music. It's hard to categorize, but it's good!

I loved the movie Some Kind of Wonderful and the Lick the Tins' version of Can't Help Falling in Love! If you are a fan of the movie and the song you will love this entire album. It is simply wonderful!

DESERVING OF MUCH MORE ATTENTION AND SUCCESS,
This review is from: Blind Man on a Flying Horse (Audio CD)
FIRSTLY A NOTE TO ALL THOSE PEOPLE LOOKING TO PURCHASE THIS CD, IT CAN BE FOUND ON AMAZON.CO.UK (AMAZON IN THE UK) Back in 1986 I purchased two singles by this group "Can't help falling..." and "Belle of Belfast City" which fast became favourites in my collection. It never occurred to me that they had released an album due to the lack of chart success of their two singles. I was therefore really surprised to find this CD on Amazon. What a fantastic CD!! Alison Marr's vocals are far from conventional but they work so well on their material. If you liked "Can't help falling in love" you won't be disappointed with the rest of this CD. Highlight has to be the 12" version of "Belle of Belfast City" gauranteed to get anyone moving. All the tracks are great and I was bowled over to find the instrumental B side "Calliope House" on here, the penny whistle has never been so cool. The remixed versions are great and the sleeve notes give you some nice information on the group and where they are now. If there was any justice in the music industry these guys would have been massive, but then again this is one of the best kept secrets in my CD collection and everyone that hears them wants to know more. GREAT GROUP, GREAT SONGS, SHAME THEY DON'T MAKE THEM LIKE THIS ANYMORE......

Well worth it, but.....,
This review is from: Blind Man on a Flying Horse (Audio CD)
Son of a .......!!! I just paid over $100.00 for this cd, used. My stomach hurts. I searched exhaustedly for a few years to see whether or not this was going to be reissued before buying it, then finally gave in. Now it's being re-released. Beautiful listen, and well worth it, but is my hair bleeding?
