5.0 out of 5 stars This is NOT a sleeper!
I'm a little apalled at the first customer's review by calling this story one to 'take a nap'! I'm SO disappointed!!! This cannot be classified as a Christian romance. This cannot even be classified as a romance!!! This was disgusting in some points, but I read it all hoping there would be an explanation at the end...

5.0 out of 5 stars This is NOT a sleeper!, July 24, 2000
I'm a little apalled at the first customer's review by calling this story one to 'take a nap'! Although, before reading this book, I had never heard of or read Diana Palmer's previous sellers (including those written under her old pen name 'Katy Currie') I found this book to be very good and insightful. I must admit that in some parts the predictability of what would happen next was point blank. However, if all the reader does is try to 'predict' what will happen next then they are missing the story! To me, it was obviously a beautiful love story between a blind man and a woman who had not known real love. It showed how we as humans are so quick to 'see' a person on the outside without even considering the real soul within. The characters fall in love with each other not because of a physical attraction, which we know does not last forever, but on the basis of a trusting and complete love that surpasses the physical appearances. An excellent example of the character's relationship, which is realized in the end, can be found in the Bible in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. For those of you who have not read this book, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to (for a few hours) live in the world of two lonely people who find each other and give of themselves what they thought could never have, and that is true love!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent read, April 7, 2008

Once again I was thrilled with a book written by Diana Palmer. The way she tells a story brings you into the story and helps you feel what the characters are feeling. A must read for all Diana fans and those who will become fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars The oldest are even better..., March 9, 1999

I have copies of almost everything Diana Palmer has written (exception: "Night of the Unicorn" published under penname Diana Blayne). I love the way she tells a story, as do her multitude of other fans. I have found many of the older stories, those published in the early '80s, actually to be even more compelling and enjoyable than the latest written. "Blind Promises" is one of those and I recommend it to readers. Others recommended are "Denin and Lace" and "Tangled Destinies" (also published under the penname), and "Betrayed by Love."

2.0 out of 5 stars Where was God in all this???, November 6, 2011
This review is from: Blind Promises (Steeple Hill Women's Fiction #60) (Mass Market Paperback)
I'm SO disappointed!!! This cannot be classified as a Christian romance. This cannot even be classified as a romance!!! This was disgusting in some points, but I read it all hoping there would be an explanation at the end...

Gannon was a JERK!!! He screamed and cursed at Dana. He shoved her into a table (abuse). He 'forced' himself on her. He forced her to kis him...DEMANDING her too! It was all about Gannon...He was a selfish, spineless, class-A jerk! He used God's name in vain many times and was obviously a playboy. I'm sure he had many sexual experiences outside of his marriage, including his ex-girlfriend!

Dana...What can i say about her? She was STUPID!!!!!!!! HOW could she fall for a man who was verbally, physically, emotionally, and sexually abusive to her? Yes - sexually since he was forcing her to kiss him!!! I rolled my eyes when I read that she loved him. WHY??????

And outside of cursing, God wasn't really mentioned. I seriously doubt He played any part in Gannon's life. He may have played a 'small' part in Dana's life.

Oh, and I almost threw the book when Dana was confessing her undying love and devotion to Gannon at the end. She'll move in and sleep with him every night anyways - even if he doesn't marry her?????? OHMYGOSH!!! My mouth popped open at that!!!!! That was so wrong in so many ways. She had no pride - no morals if she would stoop that low for a jerk like that!!!

Throw this book away. DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK unless you are into the non-Christian romance and enjoy an over-bearing man who treats a woman like a piece of meat...

4.0 out of 5 stars Touched by Love, May 18, 2010
This review is from: Blind Promises (Steeple Hill Women's Fiction #60) (Mass Market Paperback)
Still guilt-ridden by her mother's death, Dana Steele, RN, takes on a new challenge. Dutchman Gannon van der Vere was temporarily blinded in a boating accident and retreated into a cold, dark world, devoid of human contact. Dana attempts to make him see both himself and everyone around him in a whole new light. Slowly, Dana falls in love with her patient, but will Gannon still care for her if he regains his sight? In this novel, it's difficult to say who was more touched by love.

2.0 out of 5 stars Total Book Candy, February 20, 2010

This review is from: Blind Promises (Kindle Edition)
This book is a giant piece of candy. This means that it has a stnkin' lot of sweet fatty elements that most books limit. It has tons of gushy romantic fluff. It's very lusty for a Christian fiction but by no means inappropriate.

The writing was definitely weak and the dialogue was very contrived. The characters were two dimensional and the storyline fell flat. The dialogue at the end was melodramatic and had me laughing at parts.

I wouldn't recommend this book unless it's free and you have an excessive sweet tooth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Interesting!!!, October 4, 2009
By
Claudia (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blind Promises (Steeple Hill Women's Fiction #60) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is so exciting that I've read it non-stop! I've enjoyed it a lot.
But I don't know if it is a Christian romance. I bought it as a Christian fiction but I am an avid reader of romances and for me this book has a lot of kissing and embracing and sensual tension for the Christian market (I loved it). The plot is excellent and the characters are interesting but religion is not an issue in this book - there is no Bible version, the characters don't go to Church, and the hero doesn't seem to be a Christian.
I gave the book 5 Stars because it is extremely enjoyable and interesting but I think you should know that it is not a traditional Christian romance. I have to confess that I would love to see more kissing and sensual tension in Christian romances so, I approve (there is no sex in this book)!

4.0 out of 5 stars I found the book interesting, August 24, 1999
By A Customer
After reading the reissue of this book put out by Steeple Hill, I found the book interesting. In Diane Palmer's way it tells the story that Ms. Palmer does in most of her novels and was the expected plot. If you like predicitibility you'll like this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stalled before the half-way mark, July 21, 2008
By
This review is from: Blind Promises (Steeple Hill Women's Fiction #60) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was bad. I read it twice to try and find some redeeming quality to it, but it fell short. Why did the female lead character change her personality from fiesty and able to take on challenges, to doormat once she admitted attraction/love for the male lead? Has this writer ever even been to Georgia? Descriptions were flat and inserted as if they were taken from an encyclopedia. Dialogue was decent until the character shift, but then became inane and frustrating. Lacked reality for my taste and felt like an author's first attempt at writing (i.e., lacking in evocative description and logical character progression). I was sorry to have spent the money on it and agree with previous reviewer who said it didn't earn the right to be in the inspirational category.

2.0 out of 5 stars Blind Promises (Love Inspired), November 30, 1999

I have been a fan of the author for years, but I think that this has to be the worst book that she has written. The plot was dull and the characters were unrealistic. The only thing this book inspired me to do was take a nap.
