The Blind Date Surprise by Barbara Hannay
Harlequin Romance # 2845 - May 2005
Book # 2 - Southern Cross Ranch
It's hard to meet new men when you live in the outback but thankfully to the information highway, Annie has met her dream man. So on a whim Annie packs up and goes to the big city to meet Damien her internet love. With her girlfriends close by, Annie eagerly waits for Damien at the restaurant. After what seems like ages, the waiter informs her that her date will not be arriving but she is welcome to enjoy a meal anyway, courtesy of Damien's uncle. Annie leaves the restaurant barely holding back her tears. Theo, standing outside the restaurant, curses his nephew as he sees how devastated Annie is. And yet she holds her head high, and this sparks admiration in Theo. Through her friends, Annie discovers that Damien's uncle is a Professor at the University so Annie goes to him to find out what happened. As they talk they soon discover that everything Damien wrote about himself he was actually describing Theo. Soon Theo finds himself inviting Annie to stay with him, in Damien's room while he's away, and she can see the sites of the city. Living closing with Theo only sparks jealousy with Theo's boss, whom he had once dated. This puts his job at risk. Even though Annie admits her attraction and love for Theo she leaves him for his own sake.
Southern Cross Ranch series

The Blind Date Surprise ~ HR-3845 ~ May 2005
The Mirrabrook Marriage ~ HR-3849 ~ June 2005
This is another feel good story. Annie made a mistake though when she left the city to protect Theo's job; she failed to ask Theo what he wanted. Of course it all comes out happily.
