Who Could Be So Blind??,
By OOSA Online Book Club "O.O.S.A. Gets It Read!" (World Wide Web, USA) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE)
This review is from: "Blind Temptations" the Seduction of Sex, Lies & Betrayal (Paperback)
Lesley Hal opens up with three friends attending a very formal, high society function. You are engulfed with how the main characters, Chante, Michelle and Karissa each look like or have components of someone famous..."Halle Berry's little sister," "curves like Beyonce" and "legs like Tina Turner." To say the least, you will have these same comments throughout the entire read with other various characters.
Chante could be Halle Berry's little sister. She has the perfect life with the perfect husband, the perfect job and the perfect triplet girls. Always the one to comment to her two best friends that they too could have the life she has, Chante soon finds out all that glitters is not gold. Michelle loves the fact that her man, Brandon, is finally back home. Yes, they have been through some problems, but who hasn't? Trying to hide the fact that he treats her like crap and physically abuses her on a constant basis, Michelle can only hide the truth for so long. Karissa has finally met the love of her life. Andre is every woman's dream. He's rich, handsome and single. As Karissa and Andre make plans to marry, Karissa must learn to let go of the hurt and loneliness that has plagued her her entire life. Alex knows that he couldn't ask for a better wife in Chante. His law business is booming and his little girls are healthy. Alex cannot help that he is tempting by the likes of Paris, the estranged woman who he almost killed. Will Alex's lust blind him and cost him what he has worked so hard to achieve and also test his manhood? After reading the first few chapters, you pretty much know the jest of the story. What I didn't know was that the editing would be so bad. The [...] along with the excessive use of what industry person the characters resemble make the read even longer than the 449 pages it is. A Book That Will Hook Ya!,

This review is from: "Blind Temptations" the Seduction of Sex, Lies & Betrayal (Paperback)
This is one of those huge books that I looked at and wondered if the story is interesting enough for me to get through all those pages.
I am glad to say I was done within a couple of days...picking it up every chance I got! "Blind Temptations" is an awesome novel that follows the relationships of three best friends Chante, Karissa and Michelle. Chante's perfect world is turned upside down by her disloyal husband who teaches her that she is not immune to a VERY scandalous drama. Karissa has been disowned by her family but now even as a grown woman can't seem to get past it; putting her up-coming marriage at risk... Michelle thinks being a punching bag is a form of love!!! Even though her friends try to guide her away she still falls back into Satan's hands!! There was an excellent sub-plot involving the neighbors Tamia and Alan that heightened the suspense and just brought the whole drama to a whole nother level!!!! Author Leslie Hal has built a very scandalous drama that draws the reader in and keeps them there till the very end. Ms Hal planted the seeds of her characters and took the time to cultivate their personalities while the drama escalated around them. Providing Ms. Hal tightens up the editing "Blind Temptations 2" should be a five star read. Locksie ARC BOOK Club Inc.

This review is from: "Blind Temptations" the Seduction of Sex, Lies & Betrayal (Paperback)
In BLIND TEMPTATIONS, Chante Michaels, Michelle Ramsey and Karissa Waters are friends who seem to have been through it all, but at the same time, do not completely confide in each other when the going gets tough. All have successful careers and seem to be on the ball; however, things are not always as they appear to be behind closed doors.
Michelle has a really sweet personality, always trying to please others while compromising herself. She perpetually makes the wrong choice regarding her deadbeat, abusive boyfriend Brandon. They say "love is blind," but dang, in Michelle's case, love must be blind and stupid! When it comes to Brandon, his lies, his torturous ways and imposing demeanor, you think the choice would be easy. Will Michelle be able to recognize and accept true love or will it be too late? Will she turn to her friends in her time of need or will she continue to put on the brave, happy face? Karissa is also struggling with her own dark side. Having been shunned by her family at a very early age and cast away like a piece of used tissue, Karissa struggles with her own self-acceptance while at the same time she yearns to renew her severed family bonds. When she innocently meets Andre Williamson, a true prince charming, you would think Karissa would finally accept the happiness she has longed for her whole life or can she? Will Karissa's painful childhood prevent her from truly accepting Andre's genuine love for her? Chante seems to have the perfect life - her husband Alex is seemingly the model husband who has a successful career as an attorney. Their triplet daughters are wonderful children and Chante is nothing to sneeze at, with breathtaking good looks and a career as a successful bank executive, things just seem, well, perfect in her life. Karissa and Michelle often felt Chante's world is too goody-goody and wondering if it would ever come crashing down around her feet. When scandal brews involving Alex, the very core of Chante's world is rattled. Will she be able to hold things together for the sake of her family? Only time will tell! With BLIND TEMPTATIONS, Lesley E. Hal creates a sizzling novel that will pull you through its 460 pages. This is one of the longer novels I've read in awhile and it held my interest from start to finish. The details are juicy, the storyline is engaging and the drama is scandalous. The book contains a few minor grammatical and editing issues that could be improved upon; however, this does not detract from the overall essence of the book. At times, it seems obvious where the story is heading and you may wonder how the characters could be so blind. However, when we're caught up in a situation, things are not as black and white from the inside. Overall, the book was well-written and Hal incorporated a cliff hanger which leads me to believe a sequel is in the works! Reviewed by Nedine of The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers

After reading the previous reviews I was a little skeptical about reading this book, but I'm glad I did.
It kept my interest so well that I finished this rather lengthy book in 1 1/2 days. I had to keep reading to see what would happen next. All three friends had their own issues and were afarid to share with each other. The book made your realize that anything your going through can be fixed with prayer. I am now waiting on Amazon to get the sequel on Kindle because I have to know what Michelle decides.

Does it get any better,
This review is from: "Blind Temptations" the Seduction of Sex, Lies & Betrayal (Paperback)
than this! Blind Temptations was chalked full of drama, scandal with an incredible plot. I want to know what Michelle is going to do! I can't believe how this book ended. Michelle needs to realize her self worth and do right by Greg if she don't want him. She should have never gotten involved with again so soon after what she went through with Brandon. That Brandon is a real piece of work that I wished Josephine would've put out of his misery. I can't stand men that get off on beating women and she'd be a fool to go back to him and he met his match with Josephine, that was a no nonsense taking lady.
Chante, Chante, SMDH. I guess you thought your life was so perfect and untouchable. I guess you learned the hard way that it wasn't. Chante was one of those women that you're happy for but at the same time wishing she'd misstep just to see her kiss asphalt for a brief second to get a reality check. I couldn't be friends with anybody so self absorbed and get off on putting me down. Karissa and Michelle should have checked her long before she found out her husband was cheating. I felt bad everything was revealed but at the same time I was like... How does that asphalt taste? Afterwards, I got on the Chante pity wagon. The reason her and Alex's mother didn't get along is because they are two peas in a pod. I wished the author had mentioned this fact. These women were like mirror images in the looking down of the noses area. I hope everything is back on track in the Michaels household since babies are on the way. Karissa was too nice in my opinion. She let too much get by her from Chante, Karissa, her sisters and her mother OMG. I know you are supposed to honor thy mother, but in her case I would have had to make an exception. Mary was the mother from hell. Andre was good and patient and I'm glad he was. Karissa just needed that extra push to see the light, i just hope it doesn't come back to bite her in the butt. My goodness please, please, please hurry up with that sequel!

Blind aint the word,

This review is from: "Blind Temptations" the Seduction of Sex, Lies & Betrayal (Paperback)
Blind Temptations was a fast paced read chronicling the lives of three friends Karissa, Michelle and Chante. All of the ladies are professional and living their lives like it's golden or so it seems. Karissa is sort of the goody two shoes of the trio, but she has more problems than any sopa opera diva. She met a knight in shining armor while stranded in a Chicago airport. Andre isn't just your average Joe. when I say she hit the jackpot with this man, that's what she did, but the heffa turns down his proposal of marriage because her MOTHER won't give her blessings. This isnt just mother, this is the b***h of all mothers. Chante is that bourgeois chic that we all love to hate because she's always trying to look her nose down at you. She has it all, successful husband, triplets the house in a gated community and she's some big shot at the bank that she works for. She has no problem rubbing her life in her friend's faces, but little does she know, the joke is on her. Her husband Alex is blinded by more than temptation when he get involved with the baddest b***h Paris, my girl. Michelle is successful, but one of those silly broads that endures getting her a** whipped just to say she has a man. Brandon doesn't respect her and just dogs her out and nearly kills her on more than one occassion. Greg is the best thing to happen to her, but like most women in her situation, he's not good enough because he's being too respectful and treating her like a lady should want to be treated. Michelle wants a bad boy, not a man and thats exactly what she gets or is it?
This book has more to it than meets the eyes. I was throughly entertained and the characters were so well developed. This book reminds me of that ole skool writing with plenty of twist and turns to keep you occupied and hating when the last page is turned signaling the end of the story. From the way the book ended, I can only assume there is a sequel in the works. For this book to be over 300 pages, I was done with it in one day and I started it on my way to the airport and finished it before I turned in last night. Great job Lesley E. Hal! After reading this one and pleasure principles you have become one of my favorite authors to look out for

This review is from: "Blind Temptations" the Seduction of Sex, Lies & Betrayal (Paperback)
I started out reading this book thinking it was going to be a man basher and once again this author has floored me. I'm left speechless with the turn of events in this book.
Chante-selfish Michelle- needs help Alex-not a man Alan/Tamia-both disturbed snobs Karisa- foolish Paris- I'd kill a b*tch Andre-knight in shining amour type nig Brandon- love to get my hands on that nig The rest of the cast makes the story complete. Paris was something else, Alex is a whimp he should've went hard like my man Alan and put something in his mother's ear for disrespecting his wife. I hated what Chante went through but at the end of the day she got a taste of her own medicine. Karisa is crazy as hell Andre should've told her where to get off instead of sweating her. The only character I felt bad for was Michelle. I can't stand to see a woman hurt and I hope she finally get herself together even though a nig was left hanging. My wife said there's a part two on the way so i'm going chill until then. Gangstaview signing out...PEACE!

I loved this book! It was so suspenseful. I read a lot of books and for me to absolutely LOVE a book is odd, but I LOVED this book!! Once I picked it up, I couldnt stop reading, finished it in 4 days! This book kept my attention. Lesley was very descriptive and left nothing hanging...except for the end. But I know we'll all have to wait to tie it all in once BT2 is released. Speaking of...MS.HAL! When are you releasing BT2?!!? I'm dying to know how this ends. Don't keep a sista in suspense too long.
For those who haven't read Blind Temptations, go out and get it. It is well worth the read. Please believe me!

I am so tired of all of these fake authors. Writing is a passion and this book proved to me that it is obviously not meant for everyone. Blind Temptations was another bootleg self published or barely published writer who I feel cheated me out of my money. Borrow this book from a friend, it is not worth the time it takes to read it.

I'm a person that just got back into reading. My friend told me about this book and how she couldn't put it down. I told her when she finished with it to let me borrow it. Well all I can say is that I couldn't put down either!
I abosolutely loved this book.I felt a connection to all the characters. Michelle is just like a friend of mine. She knows she's in a relationship and that it's bad for her health in more ways than one but you can't tell her that because she loves her man and there ain't a thing you can do about it. Michelle stayed with Brandon no matter what he did to her. I found myself screaming at the book for her to get a clue. She had a police officer named Greg that was more than willing to move the heavens and earth for her but she couldn't deal with that because he wasn't going upside her head like Brandon was. I swear the author was talking about my friend when she wrote this because Michelle is stuck on stupid just like my friend who shall remain nameless. Karissa was just as naive I mean STUPID as the days are long. How can you let your decision to be married to the heir of a oil company worth billions be based on your mother's blessings??? She's another one that I wanted to slap some sense into. Her mother was trash and could've cared less about her. She even had her sisters hating her for something that she caused. Karisa's mother was a straight up bona fied hoe where was Maury when they needed a DNA testing. I'm glad Karissa's father divorced Karissa's mother, married her mother's best friend and took Karissa away from her. She reminds me of so many women who'll turn on their own child just for the love and approval of a man. This sad thing about it is this kind of stuff happnens more than we would like to admit and Ihave no pity for women who would do something like Kariasa mother did. Now who I couldn't stand was Chante, but I did feel sorry for her when everything went down. What woman want to be in that sticky situation? Then for it to be broadcasted all over news. Her husband Alex was a good man but just got caught up like any other man would when he's married to a stuck up tyrant like Chante. I bet if Chante know know her stuff is not the bomb like she thought it was. She let a punk turn her husband out to the point he couldn't even get it up for her anymore. I was glad when Chante got her mother in law straight. I think the only reason they didn't get along was that they were just a like. This book was loaded with drama, twists and turns. I can't wait for the sequel to come out to see what happened. i'm trying not give too much away but it's hard not too. I read this author's story in Zane's book Succulent chocoalte flava and it was on point! |
