4.0 out of 5 stars Blind Trust by Leslie Esdaile Banks: An PeoplewholoveGoodBooks Review, September 21, 2005
This review is from: Blind Trust (Paperback)
Blind Trust is the heart-pounding, suspense-filled, edge-of-the seat sequel to the equally suspenseful Betrayal of the Trust. Laura is trying to rebuild her life in the Cayman Islands after single-handedly bringing down the most corrupt and poweful families in Philadelphia.....families that were trying to destroy hers. She is determined to move on with her life and marry the man of her dreams James Carver and begin a new life. Unfortunately, things begin to quickly spiral out of control. First a hurricane destroys her home, James disappears, and back home, things begin to happen to her family. The families she fought to bring down are now seeking revenge and no one and nothing is safe. Laura has to make the decision to return home and face them and end the fight once and for all. Leslie Esdaile Banks has proven to be not only a excellent romance writer but also a excellent writer of suspenseful, edge of the seat drama that will grab your attention from the first page. I give this book 4 stars. Reviewed by Shay C of PeoplewholoveGoodBooks.

Revenge and retribution...

In BLIND TRUST, the heart-pounding sequel to Betrayal of the Trust, we are once again caught up in the lives of Laura Caldwell and her circle of family, friends, and yes, even her enemies.

Laura, who was instrumental in bringing down some of the most corrupt families in Philadelphia, escapes to the Cayman Islands immediately afterwards. After almost a year of living abroad, and after her island retreat is destroyed by a hurricane, Laura decides to return to Philadelphia. Upon her return, she soon finds herself once again embroiled in murder, mayhem, scandal and intrigue. When the dust settles, it's anybody's guess who will be left standing.

No matter what genre Leslie Esdaile Banks writes in, she is a master storyteller. Her stories are compelling, gripping and destined to leave you wanting more, anxiously awaiting her next release. I have been a fan of Banks for many years, and as long as she writes I will continue reading. Kudos to a very talented author.

I FOUND THE TRUST SERIES....STARTING WITH BETRAYAL OF TRUST A VERY GOOD READ... ITS A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM WHAT I NORMALLY READ ...WHICH IS ALOT OF PARANORMAL ROMANCE NOVELS, SINCE MS. BANKS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES... THOUGHT I'D TAKE A CHANCE..(SMILE)
LAURA AND JAMES WERE DEFINITELY DESTINED TO BE TOGETHER...BECAUSE OF THEIR PARENTS...
AND I JUST ADORORED LAURA'S UNCLE ..AKHAN
I RECOMMEND THIS SERIES TO ANYONE WHO LIKES ACTION...DRAMA...SUSPENSE..AND ROMANCE..

I AM NOW ON WAY TO GET PT 3... SHATTERED TRUST!!
I CAN'T WAIT TO READ IT!!

Blind Trust is book 2 in Leslie Esdaile Banks' trust series. It takes up 6 months after the main characters, Laura and James, bring down some of Philadelphia's most prominent black and white families. While Laura and James recuperate from their wounds and their family (and James' former detective partner) attempt to lead a quieter life and enjoy the fruits of their labor, the corrupt families are determined to exact revenge. While Betrayal of the Trust had to start slowly and introduce story elements, Blind Trust delivers non-stop suspense, mystery and intense excitement. Laura, James, and Steve are always cautious and because they are all extremely intelligent, it serves them well when dealing with the many factions who want them all dead and their monies recovered. Masterful writing.

She hasn't heard from her man in about a year, and some old adversaries have started to take revenge for Laura's part in bringing down Philadelphia's power brokers. Blind Trust offers the reader excellent writing, intriguing plot and nicely developed characters. So why was this story so boring that I could only finish a very painful 100 pages? This story is like coming to the theater halfway through a production. I never felt connected to the plot or the characters and if a story doesn't make you feel a part of the action in 100 pages, what's the point in reading more? This story just didn't move me. Perhaps readers of the author's prior work Betrayal of Trust could really get into this book, but for someone who had just learned of this author, the story was so uninspiring that I am not interested in the reading BoT. See www.chocolatesleuth.com for our recommends. Unfortunately, Blind Trust isn't one of them.
