5.0 out of 5 stars An Engaging Tale, September 12, 2009
This review is from: Blindsided (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
I've read Choices by Ms. Williams and truly enjoyed that book. Blindsided is the sequel to that book. I enjoyed catching up with Lauren and Ryan from that book. This book was so much better than that book! Choices was good but Blindsided was excellent. There were many reasons why I liked this book so much better....for starters, I have gotten so frustrated with authors of interracial romances making the BW in a BW/WM tale out to be insecure with little to no self esteem. It really frustrates me and I wish these authors would incorporate a new story line. This was not the case in Blindsided. Dahlia had some really legit concerns for not wanting to commit to a relationship. It had nothing to do with insecurities which was a breath of fresh air. I also hate the fact that in all these stories between a BW/WM, the BW is the one because of her love for the male and her not wanting to hurt him or because some other character is raising hell, breaks up with him by telling him some far fetched lie because they think it would be for the best! This happpened in Choices, but Ms. Williams deviated from that in Blindsided and I was truly grateful! I truly enjoyed the characters and I loved the fact that Norris's character had grown from the previous book.

Blindsided wasn't a far fetched and an unbelievable tale. Ms. Williams opened the story with the two main characters already knowing each other and in somewhat of a relationship which is quite different and unique than what I'm used to reading in Interracial Love Stories. The way they met was quite comical with Dalhia being Laura's hair dresser from Choices. If you want to read an engaging tale with truly developed characters, no editing issues or over the top conflict than this is the story for you. The race issue was dealt with but in a very mature and heartfelt way. Norris was by all means my favorite character ...even with all his vainess and ego! He was truly in love with himself but loved Dahlia so much more. He dealt with all the issues thrown at him like a true gentleman. I loved the potato chip addiction that one character had and Norris's third person talk....it made the story so much more fun. I highly recommend getting this book:)I hope I didn't give away too much! I hate when reviewers do that lol.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable, August 18, 2009
This review is from: Blindsided (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
Business owner Dahlia Sinclair is involved in a no strings attached affair with Norris Converse. Early in the story we discover that Norris no longer wants a meaningless affair with Dahlia, because he has fallen in love with her. A relationship is the last thing Dahlia wants, after her husband destroy her faith in love. Telling Dahlia that he loves her is only one of Norris' problems, when he discovers he is the father of a 16 years old biracial daughter, he knew nothing about. He is instantly thrown into the position of father, when his daughter's recently married mother decides it is time for him to get to know his daughter and decides to move to Africa for six months.
I loved following Norris' journey of getting to know his daughter and being a good father, while fighting to convince Dahlia she is the love of his life. Great story!

5.0 out of 5 stars OH WHAT A WONDERFUL LOVE STORY!!!!!, October 7, 2009
This review is from: Blindsided (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
I really really enjoyed this book, a well written heartfelt romance. I gave it five stars because it had all the ingredients of a good novel and I was totally drawn to the characters in this book. Dahlia & Norris issues felt so real and with Norris dealing with his teenage daughter, I felt for him. I won't say anymore because I don't want to give to much away, but this is a MUST read. If you are looking for hot sex, this is not for you. This story is about family, trust, forgiveness and unconditional love. Ms. Williams did a fantastic job in delivering this story, something that will touch your heart. There were scenes in this book that actually had me in tears. I highly recommend this book, its a keeper and I will read again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read, November 11, 2011

This review is from: Blindsided (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
After reading Choices (Indigo Love Spectrum) I was anxious to read this book to see how Norris would be taken down, and it surely was something else. Norris and Dahlia had this hot chemistry from the very first page of the book. Their relationship was certainly a rocky one, but one that seemed meant to be. His discovery of his daughter Reese was unexpected for him, but he handled it exceedingly well, and it was great to see how their relationship evolved. Overall this was another wonderful interracial read, and I can't wait to read more from this author.

This book could have been named It's a Small World After All.Everyone knew each other Norris, the male lead was having a torrid affair with Dahlia. A woman from his past tells him she hijacked his sperm and he has a 16 year old daughter. The daughter is good friends with Dahlia. The premise was interesting or at least it seem so when I began reading this book but it took me six weeks to it. I read Ms Williams first book Choices which I really enjoyed. It was a sweet romance. I think she tried to crank up the heat with this one. Not really successful with that aspect. The romance between Norris and Dahlia was solid. But the storyline about his daughter could have been dropped altoghether.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent! Great Story, October 12, 2009
This review is from: Blindsided (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is an excellent, well-written story. The characters are well-developed and very interesting and the plot line is good. If you read "Choices" you'll recognize some of the characters such as Ryan and Lara. It was great to find out what became of them once they got married. If you didn't read "Choices" you'll still be able to perfectly follow this story. It was funny to read the story of a playboy who had finally met his match. I know many single women wished they could meet a man this determined in his pursuit of the woman he loves. The addition of a daughter he didn't know about for 16 years was another challenge for him but the book flowed beautifully as Norris and Dahlia as well as Norris and his daughter developed their relationships. I wish all romance stories were this well-written and rounded. No formulaic writing here. I look forward to Ms. Williams next novel. She does not disappoint.

4.0 out of 5 stars Can Falling in Love Leave You Blindsided?, October 12, 2009

The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers (RAWSISTAZ.com and BlackBookReviews.net) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blindsided (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
Dahlia Sinclair, a successful salon owner, and Norris Converse, a sexy businessman, have been enjoying an affair they agreed was supposed to be a no-strings attached, carefree physical relationship. However, Norris has fallen in love with Dahlia, but Dalia does not agree a relationship based on sex can result in one based on love. Dahlia is also suffering from fear of the unknown, thanks to her twelve-year marriage to a cheating ex-husband.

Norris Converse discovers something other than the fact that he's ready to settle down with Dahlia. He learns he is the father of a teenage daughter. The mother of his child has now decided Norris and his daughter should get to know each other. Norris is not only shocked, but unprepared for fatherhood. Playing catch-up parenting to a sixteen-year-old daughter, who is not the least bit thrilled with his prior absence in her life, and trying to convince a headstrong Dahlia that she is the only woman for him, is proving to be harder than he thought. Are his daughter and the love of his life worth fighting for?

I didn't know the novel, BLINDSIDED, was a sequel to Williams' debut novel, Choices, until I read her bio in the back of the book. However, BLINDSIDED read like a stand-alone novel. This was a great story about the internal and external conflicts men and women in interracial relationships deal with. The reader will see the female character overcome her insecurities about a commitment to men. Readers will also see how the male character fights for the love of his life, while accepting his responsibility as a father. Williams does a good job tying up all the loose ends in the story, which will leave readers satisfied.

4.0 out of 5 stars naff hero name, September 13, 2009
This review is from: Blindsided (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Mass Market Paperback)
I agree with all the review comments, this was a good book, well written etc. However, I just couldn't conjure a romantic image of the hero without thinking what a naff name Norris is, it simple is not a name that does justice to the character macho image.
