Book Description

Readers who love Nora Roberts, Kay Hooper, and Lisa Gardner will enjoy this novel of romantic suspense with a touch of the paranormal by bestselling author Tina Wainscott (aka Jaime Rush).

"Tina has unforgettable female protagonists and action-packed, almost haunting plotlines." - Janet Evanovich New York Times bestselling author

A young girl is missing, and her only hope is a blind woman who can see through her eyes...

Eight-year-old Phaedra Burns has been kidnapped by a madman who believes her sacrifice will assuage his rage. Olivia Howe knows that rage; sixteen years ago, she escaped his clutches. The trauma stole her sight, but gave her something in return: a psychic connection to abducted children. Now, that connection is Phaedra's only hope...if Olivia can face the terrors of her past--and an inescapable new nightmare.

Phaedra's kidnapping is the case that could push Detective Max Callahan over the edge. Especially when his key witness--or suspect--is a beautiful blind woman with a crazy claim. But her fragile beauty isn't the only thing that draws him to her. And as their pasts, and passion, twist together, a killer stalks their every move.

(Copyright 2002 as Now You See Me)

Tina Wainscott also writes pulse-pounding, supernatural romantic suspense under the name Jaime Rush!

Editorial Reviews

"The plotline of paranormal mystery, Now You See Me [Blindsight], is similar to many other thrillers of this ilk, but its sensitive characterizations and incisive descriptions separate it from the pack. ... Wainscott cleverly keeps the suspense rolling by introducing a handful of red herrings and penning a number of chilling close calls and near encounters. Though Wainscott hasn't yet reached the popularity of Kay Hooper or Lisa Jackson, this intoxicating thriller is on par with those authors' best works." -Publishers Weekly

***** Incredible! I could not put this book down. It caught me from page one and REFUSED to let me go until the very end. Author Tina Wainscott has the shining talent of being able to combine the genre of "thriller" with the genre of "romance" and somehow make it work! Once again, Tina Wainscott delivers a heart-stopping story that will make many readers stay awake reading long into the night! ***** -- Huntress Reviews

TOP PICK! ... Wonderfully drawn suspense that is gritty, chilling and frighteningly eerie. Author Tina Wainscott has really found her niche! - RT Bookclub Reviews

The plot has more twists and turns than a labyrinth, and the suspense just keeps building. Readers will be on the edge of their seats for most of this white-knuckle thriller. With characters and a story you'll remember long after the last page is turned, NOW YOU SEE ME [Blindsight] is a strong contender for the best romantic suspense book of the year. ~ Susan Lantz,

From the Author

I've always loved the combination of romance and suspense. Most of my twenty-eight books and five novellas twist those elements together, because nothing complements falling in love better than being hunted down, right?  My goal as a writer is to create books that make people feel good. My characters come with baggage, pasts hurts, and vulnerabilities. They go through hell, find love, and at the end, find peace in who they are and everything they've gone through. And isn't that what we all want?

My earlier books also twined in a dash of paranormal. Soul-changing second chances play the catalyst for UNTIL I DIE AGAIN, STRANGER IN THE MIRROR, and WOKE UP DEAD. The question of where our souls go when we're in a coma kicks off WHAT SHE DOESN'T KNOW. And psychic connections play into UNFORGIVABLE and TOUCHED BY LIGHTNING. I jumped into the paranormal with both feet in the Offspring series (Avon Books), an X-Files meets LOST mix with lots of action and romance, changing my name to Jaime Rush (] to distinguish them. I'm thrilled to be starting a new series, The Hidden, at Grand Central Publishing, with Dragons, Angels, and magick.

And a hot romantic suspense series from Random House: The Justiss Alliance ~ When five Navy SEALs take the fall for a covert mission gone wrong, this kick-butt brotherhood joins a private agency that exacts justice outside the law.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Unexpected Gem! 41/2 stars! January 26, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've read all of Jaime Rush's Offspring series books, but was unaware of her writings as Tina Wainscott. Being the very curious sort of person, I took a chance and chose to read "Blindsight." The synopsis for this book is pretty detailed, so I'll not reiterate what's already been done. "Blindsight" was a thoroughly intriguing book. The story line's been done before where a person can "see" through another person's eyes, but this book was by no means stale. You empathized with the plight of the little kidnapped girl. You felt the pain and frustrations of the heroine, Olivia, and the hero, detective Max Callahan. They had emotions that were real and wholly recognizable. There were twists and turns in this romantic suspense that were so unexpected---and that's what sets this book apart from many other romantic suspense novels. A lot of romantic suspense novels are either short on the suspense or shortchanges on the romance. This book had the perfect balance, and it was a real treat for me.

So, while I'm salivating, waiting for the next Offspring novel, I am buying up Tina Wainscott's back list for my new paperwhite Kindle. Hooray for me!! I highly recommend this book if you enjoy a really suspenseful romantic novel with a paranormal/psychic element.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very Good January 16, 2012

Nice approach in this novel. I like the strength of the female character Olivia, the paranormal theme of the story, the historical link between Olivia and the detective Max, the introduction of the supporting characters; everything done well.

It's a good storyline, a little romance mixed in with some anxious moments; flows well and wraps-up nicely without being trite.

Thank you.

If you like this genre of book, set aside several hours because you won't be able to put it down. Although I have to say I had a good idea who the killer was, it didn't ruin it for me. Take a chance, I think you will enjoy yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Driven to be a Cop September 2, 2014
By Susan
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The best thing about this book is it is complex and hard to predict! That said, the writing is very good and the characters interesting and a little flawed (human). A little girl is kidnapped, struck over the head and looses her eyesight. Olivia is rescued and grows up. This story is about a special kind of blindness, kidnapping, child abuse, mental illness, seeing eye dogs, love, believing in the hard-to-believe, guilt, good cops and not so good cops. It is a very good read!

You know it is good if you don't know who done it until the very end of the book. Great blending of past with present as far as character relationships are concerned.
