I've had this software for 2 years, starting with the 2007 version. 2 free upgrades later, it's about the same as 2007. I use this mostly to rip home recorded DVDs to my iPod. When it works, it's fantastic, and does everything it says it will do. About 20% of the time, however, it doesn't work, and there's nothing you can do about it. You'll still get your audio and video, but it will be grossly out of sync.

The newer versions come with controls you can use to refresh the computer's sync rate as you rip the DVD. The problem is that these controls do absolutely nothing. You can adjust the settings any way you please, but you will get the same out of sync rip every single time. It even goes out of sync at the same point in the video each time. This holds true no matter how many times you try to rip the DVD.

The one thing I need to retrieve from my iPod is my playlists, but there isn't a function for this in a program that appears to be able to retrieve everything else. Overall, it's very convenient, but I just think there are better programs out there.

1.0 out of 5 stars Podmaxx 2009 is a piece of junk May 25, 2009
By dcells
I purchased the product and attempted to load it on a Windows XP desktop. Received error box with Process ID and Thread ID numbers. Very little instructions on website or in product box. Adjusted DEP setting as stated on website. This did not work. I will attempt to return product...

3.0 out of 5 stars It Works But... November 5, 2009
Verified Purchase
Initially I purchased Podmaxx09 based upon its ability to Copy, Create, Organize, Watch the fruits of my collection of music and DVD movies. After the install is where you'll run into problems (Podmaxx09.exe application error - applicationo has generatd at exception that could not be handled). I went to forum only to find out this is one of many errors encountered by other users. The tech support at is almost invisible or is that transparent... their explanation points to the latest update for the iTunes ver. 9.0 which lead me to beleive the relationship is not a firm agreement.

It can not locate my iPhone 3G or sync to it either, which takes the idea of moving music and video between my desktop and laptop to a new level of "NOT". Though the only feature that actually worked for me is that I can convert my DVD's to MP4 format (Booyah!!!), which is the main reason for having Podmaxx09

1.0 out of 5 stars Look before you leap December 9, 2010

Go to their web site and read the FAQa before you buy. Seem if it works on your machine it is a handy program to have, if not too bad.

I bought it, installed it, updated it and it will not run. I have it on 2 computers (an HP with XP & a Vaio with XP)and cannot get it to work on either Machine. Before the update it would run & not see my I touch, after the update all I get is the windows Sorry have to shut the program down error message. I will continue to try to make it work, getting little or no help from customer service. I hate any software I buy and have trouble starting with the install.

For me the only good thing about the program is I only lost $30.

2.0 out of 5 stars might end up working someday!! November 18, 2008
By Heydj
This is not a good piece of software. It gets one star maybe two because it seems like eventually it might do what it claims to do. I have had this for 2 days and it has crashed more than 10 times. It will copy a few files maybe even a hundred or so and then crashes and freezes the whole system. Reboot, start again, copy a few files, crash, repeat! Very frustrating. Not recommended at all, there must be a better way! I dont know what I was thinking, 2 stars is easily one too many

1.0 out of 5 stars Do no..I repeat DO NOT buy this program! December 24, 2008
I have and 80GB iPod, and I purchased this program at my local Office Depot after noticing it's features. On my very first use of the program, I followed all the instructions and it screwed my iPod all up, so bad that I had to restore it to it's factory preset, causing me to lose 10,000 songs. Podmaxx will be hearing from me over this!
