this is easily one of blink's best cd's yet. it's so different from anything eslse that they've done and you can tell that they put alot more work into this album, b/c the songs are so great. i mean you can't expect them 2 b writing about getting drunk and masturbating forever. this just goes to show that they take their music more seriously than jokes and that they r...

2.0 out of 5 stars New sound is dissapointing!
The first song, Feeling this, is the best song on the CD because the chorus has a little bit of their punk roots. However, the rest of the CD is not so great because I spend the whole time figuring out what kind of band they are trying to be. Blink 182 has come out with some awesome CDs in the past but this one is really dissapointing because they have completely gone...

plus there are still a couple fast paced songs

5.0 out of 5 stars Some Of Their Best Work, December 7, 2003
By
Timothy Hagelin (New Gloucester, ME United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blink 182 (Audio CD)
This is some of Blink-182 best work...they matured alot since T.O.Y.P.A.J. It's different, and by different i mean good...But Mark didn't get to sing enough...Too much of Tom, and Mark has the better voice
Okay, so i gave each song a rating 1-10, 1 being worst, 10 (of course) being best.

Feeling This- this is the first single off the album (as most fans would know) and it's a good way to start the album...it kinda reminds me of "What's My Age Again?"- 9.5

Obvious- This song is kinda heavy metal-ish (not much like Blink-182's usual stuff, so i was kinda surprised)- 8.5

I Miss You- A little like the BOXCAR RACER song "There Is..."
It was okay, but a little too soft- 8

Violence- This is one of the best songs on the album. Pure Hard Rock- 10

Stockholm Syndrome- I usually skip the letter part, but otherwise, this is a great song. Really fast-paced- 10

Down- Really different song compared to stuff like Enema and T.O.Y.P.A.J. It's still a pretty good song- 9

The Fallen Interlude- I skip this alot, except when i'm really bored. It's just a boring song- 4.5

GO- Great song, but i thought the beginning was kinda weak.- 7.5

Asthenia- My favorite song on the album. Great tune...about a guy lost in space in a car.- 10 (i'd give it a 20 if i could)

Always- Very retro. It's really 80's-ish. Really good- 9.5

Easy Target- Love the drumming. Really fast-paced- 9.5

All Of This- They got the lead singer of The Cure to sing on this song. There was, like, one line in the chorus where Tom got to sing. Took away BIG from the song- 5.5 (i have a soft spot...The Cure was their favorite band)

Here's Your Letter- Very much like Obvious...- 8.5

I'm Lost Without You- Great song to have on a movie Soundtrack...longest song by far (about 6 minutes) Really good though- 7.5

4.0 out of 5 stars Blink 182, October 7, 2004
This review is from: Blink 182 (Audio CD)
Out of all of Blink 182's c.d's ( Cheshire Cat, Buddha, Dude Ranch, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, and Enema of the State.) I have to say that this is my favorite. It seems that since their last release, Enema of the State, they have greatly matured. This is most evident in their lyrics. They've gone a long way from
" I want to f*&^ a dog in the a*^,"
To their new single I Miss You.
" Don't waste your time on me your already the voice inside my head."
More of the songs on " Blink 182" revolve on romantic yearning, or heartbreak, compared to their old albuuums, which concentratd mainly on partying, sex more partying, and an occasional ditty about a broken family. I'm not sayiing that I disliked these songs, in fact I loved them, I just felt that it was beggining to become repetitive. I think that Blink 182 reached the point in their career where they had to create something totally new and differant, to be able to grow as musicians and songwritters. Another thing I love about this album, was the collaboration with Robert Smith on " All of this." I am a huge fan of The Cure, and Robert Smiths voice contrasts Tom's beautifully. Every single track on this c.d is worth listening to, over and over again. I would highly recomend purchasing this, but be warned, its probably not the Blink 182 your used to.

Listen up, people! This is an awesome Blink album. Dont listen to that retard below who said "Blink 182 really needs to think the path they're taking over again". That's the opinion of some little 12 year old who does'nt understand anything anyway. Every band should grow and mature if they dont want to be left behind. How boring would it be if Blink released the same old album every year? It would get old real quick. Look, my point is that true fans of Blink will love this new sound. If you are just a one dimensional, casual fan who loved Blink for their immature lyrics you probably wont like this. But then again, those so-called "fans" probably think Blink's first album was "Enema of the State".

5.0 out of 5 stars Their Best, and Hopefully Not Last, August 29, 2005
This review is from: Blink 182 (Audio CD)
Here's a breakdown of the songs:
1) Feeling This - This song is awesome, and it's an excellent way to start the album. My favorite song here. 10/10
2) Obvious - Very loud, nice guitar rif in the middle of it. 9/10
3) I Miss You - The big hit off of this album, very different from the usual Blink-182. It's a good song, though. 10/10
4) Violence - The verses are spoken instead of sung. It sort of adds a nice touch to the song. 9/10
5) Stockholm Syndrome - Great, fast paced song. 10/10
6) Down - I like the guitar in this song, great riff. 10/10
7) The Fallen Interlude - Hmmmm....very intersting. Travis's drumming is great, that's all I can say about it. 7/10
8) Go - Great, catchy song about Mark's father. Too bad it's so short. 10/10
9) Asthenia - I don't care for the transmissions at the beginning, but the rest of it is good. Tom's voice sounds weird. 9/10
10) Always - Another single. Drumming is great, just another abnormal Blink-182 song that everyone likes. 9/10
11) Easy Target - Nice, refreshing fast song. 10/10
12) All of This - Features the lead singer from The Cure. Basically the same as Easy Target (music-wise) 8/10
13) Here's Your Letter - Gets stuck in my head sometimes. Great bass in this song. 8/10
14) I'm Lost Without You - Sometimes I have trouble hearing the verses because Tom's voice is so quiet here. An OK way to close the album. 8/10
Well, although this album is very different from all of the other Blink-182 albums, don't hesitate to get it. I'm hoping that someday they'll get back together again to keep it coming.

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD made me happy, July 27, 2004
This review is from: Blink 182 (Audio CD)
I used to love this band in the Cheshire Cat days. I thought that CD was the coolest thing on earth. When Dude Ranch came out I felt that Blink had fallen from grace. Each CD thereafter continued to prove this to me. Each song was formulaic and, though catchy, quite bland in the fact that there was really no variable in the sound. Everyone knew of my loathing and disdain for Blink, yet my best friend had the nerve to get this CD for me for my birthday. I was less-than grateful, I'm afraid to say. On the first listen I was stymied. I thought, This Can't Be Blink! Yet it was. The album was actually good. It's actually one of the best I've ever heard. The album has a depth to it that hadn't been seen in past Blink albums. It's like they actually took the time to make music. They delve into some heavy experimentation and those are the standout tracks. They have a laid back hip-hop song, a song that changes tempo mid-song, and a song featuring Rob Smith from the Cure. Undeniably a great CD for whatever genre you pledge allegiance to.

5.0 out of 5 stars different, but still awesome, June 21, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Blink 182 (Audio CD)
I love Blink 182, they are my favorite band, and yet again, they surprised me with this different, but still fantastic cd. Sure, its not classic punk like TOYPAJ or Enema Of The State, but its still cool. I bought this Cd today expecting some more classic Blink 182 pop punk. But, when I got home and popped the cd in my walkman, i was amazed. This is completely different form old Blink 182, but in a way, thats really cool. Its still cool music, even though its different. Here are my rankings for the songs:

1. Feeling This: Great, fast song, ending is awesome. 10/10
2. Obvious: This is an okay song, there is a cool guitar solo, but that's it. 8/10
3. I Miss You: Slow, but cool acoustic song. Great love song. 9.5/10
4. Violence: Weird intro, but the chorus is unbelieviebly cool. Great drumming and cool guitars makes this my favorite song on the album. 12/10
5. Stockholm Syndrome: Begins with a lady reading a letter. I skip that, but then the song is a cool, fast paced explosion of music. 9/10
6. Down: Really cool song. Chorus is repetitive, but the verses are great. 9/10
7. The Fallen Interlude: 2 words: Weird Song. 6/10
8. Go: Fast, cool song. Yet again, amazing drumming from Travis is on this song. 8.5/10
9. Asthenia: Slow, but good song about being lost in space. 8.5/10
10. Always: Cool, 80's retro song. Great lyrics. 9/10
11. Easy Target: Another great song, fast chorus, but slower and better verses. 9.5/10
12. All Of This: COOL SONG! sung by tom and the singer of the cure. 9.5/10
13. Here's Your Letter: Pretty cool punk song. I like the lyrics. 9/10
14. Im Lost Without You: another weird, but cool song. Its veerrryyy long, about 6 and a half minutes. 9/10

Overrall: 9.5/10 Closing remarks: Awesome Cd, classic blink fans like me will love the change, trust me. BUY IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good cd, December 20, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Blink 182 (Audio CD)
I really liked blink-182's old stuff, so when I heard that this was a more "grown-up' cd, I was a little scared to listen to it. But I liked the single, so I decided to buy it. My mom made me get the edited version. The cd all together was really awesome, but here's how I rate each song:
Feeling This- 5/5 I really like this song. It's pretty chaotic. It's a mess. It's weird. That's why I like it. It's different
Obvious- 4/5 It's really dark. It's cool though.
I Miss You- 4/5 It's really an awesome song, but I don't like the end because it's too repetitive. The verses are really good, though
Violence- 2/5 Okay , I'm sorry I just don't like this song. I just don't
Stockholm Syndrome-3/5 It's about being paranoid. That's cool.
Down- 5/5 Awesome. I love this song.
The Fallen Interlude- 1/5 Is this even a song? There's no words, just a weird beat! Yuck!
Go- 5/5 I don't have much to say about this song, just that it's great.
Asthenia- 4/5 I don't like the beginning, but this song's idea is really unique and creative.
Always- 5/5 This is a good song. It's pretty romantic, though. Sort of 80's-ish.
Easy Target- 5/5 My favorite song on the album. It's really well written. The lyrics are dark and cool. Good beat too.
All of This- 5/5 Awesome! Of course, any song with Robert Smith is. I'm a total Cure fan so I loved this song. One question: Who is Holly?
Here's Your Letter- 5/5 Good song. I enjoyed it because it wasn't as dark as all the other songs. At least the way it sounded wasn't.
I'm Lost Wothout You- 5/5 That song was a good way to end the album. Good song. A little long, though.

So the cd was good. I'm okay with the new, grown-up blink-182. They still rock.
