Don't Blink...your life just might pass you by...,

Blink got me from the opening scene. I knew right away that 1) this guy can direct, and 2)here's a main character I want to know more about. A bartender/artist who steals food labels from grocery stores... How could one not want to learn more about her life? I certainly did. Switching back and forth between several story lines of twentysomething characters, the plot leads us all to a bar where the strength of the story unravels in a night of dysfunction and embarrassing moments. The characters were all people we could relate to in college, which made it all the more enjoyable to watch. The dialogue was strong. The movie was full of neat and unique shots and the cinematography was outstanding. At times the bar seemed kind of dark, but hey, it's a bar. It's supposed to be dark to hide the patron's flaws. The movie was perfectly cast. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this film, and the indie soundtrack pretty much wrapped it up in a neat little bow. Bravo to the director and writer for proving that you don't need to spend millions to create a good movie, because I've seen plenty of 'blockbusters' that were a complete waste of time. Blink is most assuredly worth it.

I enjoyed this movie a lot. More than a few interesting characters and some great dialog.... Something I think many viewers will be able to relate too.... Loved the sound track.... not your typical thoughtless hollywood movie but something to contemplate... Need to watch it again and see if I can figure out a few of the twists...

Excellent Work,

Blink is a well made film. All of the stories are interesting and the casting is superb. It is also a beauty in terms of production quality. I only wish we could have seen this film in theaters as a wide release. Anyone can relate to the stories, not just younger people.

A great little film - thoughtful and entertaining.,

Blink is the kind of film that provokes a healthy bout of introspection. Gathering in a bar on a single night, the film's characters seem to span the full range of young adult archetypes - personality traits we either recognize in those we know or in ourselves. Blink deals with young people who, in some sense unsatisfied with their present lot in life, are beginning to grapple with the heady questions of how to take control of their destiny and achieve their dreams. As the characters mix things up over the course of the night, philosophies and world views are presented and explicated in compelling and intelligent dialog. But rather than being overly serious or brooding, the result is a surprisingly entertaining and funny film which charms us and reminds us that, whatever the circumstances, we can always choose to live a life we are proud of.

Even though my 20's are a distant memory, the film presents interesting characters that appeal to those outside of the subject's age group. Finding your place in the world and being at peace with who you are is life's most difficult challenge. This film is an interesting exploration of that process.

Blink sifts through a cast of characters all trying to find their way to the morning, or at least to closing time. With this as their goal, all have a hard time knowing the way. Through a series of interweaving stories the film taps into the aimlessness born between the end of college and life thereafter. Add a cast of young actors making their way through the indie film industry and it becomes harshly believable. Marissa Brown stands out as Toni, the artist who pays the bills by tending bar, but you will recognize quite a few of the performers from previous and subsequent TV and movie work. God help you if you recognize yourself in the characters.
Blink is American Graffiti with nostalgia replaced by reality (and an updated sound track). Like AG, the majority of the action takes place all in one night. The question is what each character will choose as their guiding light. Visually, the atmosphere is set with some impressive low light camera work. To make the nightlife come alive and actually be luminescent as was done in this film is quite a feat in itself. The convention of separate story lines works to add to the overall feeling of alienation and isolation, but more character interaction would have created more momentum. Still it is believable in the context of a small college-town community where paths cross but don't coalesce. When the bartender cries "You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here" the moment of truth, desperation, or victory is palpable. This is not a feel-good movie and it's hard to present the big questions when you are telling a story about 20-somethings who don't grasp it themselves; but Blink does have genuine moments of insight that scratch holes in the paint on the bar room window. When the working class bar owner gives the facts of life, work and art to Toni it is an authentic moment that nonchalantly transcends the actors and the script.

That point in life..,

After recently moving cross country for a new job at a young age, Blink, in many ways is reminiscent of my journey and that tipping point in life when you realize your years of youthful mindlessness cannot last forever. It's the point in life where more than ever before you assess the depth and severity of the decisions made in life. It's a time when you actually begin thinking deeply about your future and the attainability of certain life benchmarks and Blink illustrates this experience flawlessly. Additionally, Blink boasts amazing cinematography and a brilliant soundtrack that really helps to accurately portray emotion in a very artful delivery.
