4.0 out of 5 stars Blink Review July 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This short story is captivating. I loved the authors use of words and descriptions through out this mythical realm created for the Gypsy Goddess Amaisia Moon. Lance a boy from Canada wanders into the forest that comes to life and changes every time he blinks or turns his head. Creatures of many wonders inhabit this world. He comes across several as well as two other characters named Shane and Nail lost in this world from different portals. As the boys learn sometimes the best short cuts don't always take you where you want to go. But it is Lance's living dream that helps him find his way back to the sane modern world. If you want something easy and short to escape to I would definitely say pick up this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Once Upon a Twilight.com Reviews July 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
If your looking for a short story that has imagination and magic in it then you should read Blink. Right from the beginning when you start reading the story you feel like you are in the story with Lance. All through the book every time he blinks you are introduced to a new character or new surroundings.Throughout the story each character is described perfectly and you meet a ton of characters. The main character Lance was driving to school was he noticed a top hat dangling in the tree like a Gypsy's earring. He was intrigued so he walked to the edge of the road to look at that mysterious hat in the tree. He wished he could get the hat from the tree but it was near the forest near the majestic woods. He decided that he was going to head back to his car and when he did he ended up blinking which changed his world upside down. He meets tons of characters such as a British little boy named Shane. Then he meets a lady named Chatterbox. Every time she tries to escape the box that she is trapped in she ends up getting smaller but the only way she can escape is if she remembers her name. Then Lance finds out the way that he can get himself and everybody out of the forest is by winning the game played by Amaisia. Sorry I won't tell you the ending.

After reading the story I wanted more and didn't want it to end. If your looking for a quick read that will leave you wanting more then read Blink. It won't disappoint you. I can guarantee it. - Tiffany

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully Imagined! June 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Background: Lance is a teenage boy, who miraculously gets pulled into an enchanted forest. His one goal is to figure out what is going on and get back home.

Review: Wow! This is a very short story but it packs a punch. Poast is a master of imaginative worlds, the forest in Blink is amazing and his conjuring of it is spectacular. Lance is a likeable character, even though there is not much known about him, and there are other interesting manifestations along his journey as well. I think that this would make a wonderful longer adventure, but as it stands, it is short, captivating and left me wanting more of this creative story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magnificent and beautifully imagined! May 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
"Don't look over your shoulder,
don't look in the sky
the ocean is a stranger,
the sun is a lie."

Blink by Lloyd Poast is one incredibly imaginative and magical short story! It's a fairly quick read, but once you step into the world Mr. Poast created, you will not want to leave. It's furiously good. Enchanting, eye-popping and alluring, it's a tale like no other out there, and the only story I could possibly compare it to would be Alice In Wonderland, as it possesses the same dream-like, mesmerizing and mind-twisting quality, only, instead of lengthy passages, you get a condensed, easy-to-swallow-in-one bite delicious treat! An absolute must-check-out!

"You're at both the end and the beginning of the world, Lance,"she said. "The ocean is a blank canvas for everything that is to come, and everyone who steps into the forest plays a hand in its creation. With every new thought, the tide moves out further, and the forest grows larger."

At merely 12 pages long, Blink is definitely not a very time-consuming read, but most certainly one that you will want to dive into. It has everything a good short should have: compelling premise, excellent and satisfying plot line (complete with great conclusion), and a very memorable sneak-peak into the world that could potentially become a background for a phenomenal full-blown novel. Our hero, Lance Beckett, a seventeen-year-old high school student from Canada, steps into the majestic woods overlooking the small town of Angel Falls. The forest is no ordinary one, it has a very bad reputation in town and everyone stays away from it ("The regulars in the diner said that it was infested by madness and anyone that wandered inside was lost forever.").

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting, Dangerous, and Creepy! October 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Rating: 4.5

Blink was such an imaginative and vivid short story. It was full of danger, excitement, and fantasy.

It was great seeing and experiencing everything from the descriptive eyes of our hero, seventeen year old Lance, as his curiosity got the best of him and he wandered the eerie woods located in his small town of Angel Falls. But as Lance soon learns, the whispered stories of the forest weren't just tall-tales, and with every blink of his eyes, his surroundings change, and Lance is in for one crazy roller-coaster ride when he finds himself lost in the never-ending labyrinth that is playground to the compellingly sinister Amaisia Moon.

I really enjoyed this one. Much more than I expected to, actually! Blink was such a thrilling and enchanting story, bursting at the seams with imagination and color--it's also a very short story, holding its own at just 12 pages!

Mr. Poast did an amazing job not just telling us, but showing us everything this story has to offer. Filled with an interesting cast of characters, there was never a dull moment. I was lost in the mystical woods right beside Lance, and I experienced every twist and turn with him first hand.

Though I at times found it hard to relate to Lance, I still though he was an okay character and seemed like a nice guy. All of the other characters, I LOVED.

As Lance explores the woods, lost to everything besides the pounding of his heart and the occasional scream--he meets some of the most captivating characters I've ever read in a short story. The smart-mouthing eleven year old Shane, the confused and amusing biker Nail, the intriguing Chatterbox, and of course, the wicked top hat wearing Amaisia, ringleader of all things terrible and sure to send a chill down your spine.
