Book Description

May 4, 2004
The hardcore hip-hop debut novel from a natural born storyteller.

"I had all this s-racing through my head. I figured that if the pigs was asking about Dex then they had to know he was rolling with somebody which meant they was going to be looking for me too..."

Blinking Red Light is a story of temptation and betrayal, where sex looks easy but the stakes are way higher than the players could have known.

When Dexter and a longtime friend come across a sweet hook up, it's a deal neither can refuse: they are paid large sums of money to sleep with women with no strings attached... part of a blackmail ring that quickly backfires. Soon the two are caught in a predicament with lethal consequences. Twists and turns come flying at them full speed from the rugged streets of North Philly to the eerie back roads of North Carolina.

Blinking Red Light is fast-paced and intriguing, from its opening line to the shocking conclusion-----a thrilling ride about the madness that ensues when easy money comes a man's way.

From Booklist

At age 27, Dexter and his cousin, the storyteller with a peculiar name (that is never revealed), are not looking for a job nor have they ever been employed. Their latest scheme plunges them into a summer of disasters and the perfect hustle: being paid to have sex with women as a part of a blackmail ring. It is easy money with no strings attached until they find Tony, their Italian employer, dead. The tragedy sets off a series of events in which the men are either running from a situation or creating one. From the rugged streets of Philadelphia to the country roads of Durham, North Carolina, Dexter and his cousin are caught up in an underworld of sex, betrayal, and big money. When the phone has a blinking red light, there is sure to be trouble, and each incident is more lethal, ridiculous, and dangerous than the last. Frisby is a great storyteller with a rugged Donald Goines street appeal. This originally self-published novel is full of humor, suspense, romance, and high drama. Lillian Lewis

5.0 out of 5 stars IS THERE A PART 2?, August 15, 2002

Before I go any further, I must say that this book is incredible! I almost never, ever read novels being an avid reader of poetry. I met Mister's mother by chance and got a copy of the book. I let it sit on my coffee table for one day and then decided to read it while I did my laundry. Needless to say, I never took my clothes out of the washer! I hope they're still there! Blinking Red Light had me glued to the pages. I couldn't put the book down except when I had to go to work the next day. The suspense and comedy had me reeling! I just had to know what would happen next. It sort of reminds me of my all time favorite story, "The Man Who Lived Underground" by Richard Wright.

To Mister: Keep on writing. You're on your way to becoming one of the greats!

And to the curious reader of this review: BUY THE BOOK NOW

A friend of mind went into the Tower Book Store and purchased Blinking Red Light for herself and allowed me to read it first. When I opened up the book and read the first two pages I was hooked. The story was so amazing that I just could not put it down. May I give you a round of applause Mister Mann Frisby for writing such an EXCELLENT book. It is the perfect example of how a good guy with one bad friend can completely turn your life around. I truly feel that any person who has grown up in Philly can relate to the book. I advise anyone who reads this review to puchase the book. Believe me it will be money well spent. Once again thank you for such a great story. I can hardly wait until the release of your next book. Until your next book is released peace be with you.
