Editorial Reviews

It's always difficult when you have set the bar so high as Cindy did with her groundbreaking and highly heralded second recording 'Unscripted', voted 'Critic's Choice 2011' by Jazziz Magazine, and one that spawned back to back #1 Billboard singles, to not only follow but to continue to stretch higher. With the release of BLISS, Bradley's third she again finds Grammy award winning producer Michael Broening at the rudder steering the ship and together again they not only grab hold of the bar they set, but leap over it, carried forward by the current of her wave of popularity.
Bliss is the apropos title for this set of musical sketches that continues to expose the many facets of this extraordinary artist who laid bare her emotions and challenges in 'Unscripted' and now finds a place in her life where she is finding great peace and joy through her perseverance and increase in capacity. These musical portraits painted with a variety of different brushes and strokes cover the gamut of moods and emotions, open, honest and revealing. From her trademark swing and sass to the beauty and sensitivity through which she caresses the muted Harman, it's all here. Her jazz chops are in full display on 'Squeeze Me' a wistful rendering chock full of artistic expression and interplay. Gospel, Funk, House and blues all find appearance in this new exploration of what is Cindy Bradley and the results are robust and satisfying.
Radio is licking its collective chops and Bradley's legions of fans will line up and welcome with full embrace this long awaited expose. The sails are set and this ship is prepared to leave port for destinations unknown. Welcome aboard.

I just listened to Cindy's New CD !! Shure if you stay with what was as your favorite trumpter you would never ever know about the evolution of something called "SOUL" in Jazz. If you don't have it--- TOO Bad, Step Aside, and let the groove pass you by.!! Cindys Newest CD is proably the best in All of her other efforts in bringing the Groove to SOUL Jazz.. Don't worry, Buy this CD, and you will LOVE every masterfull Cut. If you want to stay with other Trumpert players from the last Century--- KNOCK YOURSELF OUT.!!!

After stumbling across Cindy's first effort ("Bloom"), I was really impressed with her sound and the arrangement on that project. "Unscripted" was a tremendous sophomore release as well, but "Bliss" (appropriately named) is, in my opinion (obviously), her best effort to-date. Her sound has matured and the music is simply fantastic. I haven't been able to turn it off ..... it's that good! I must pay homage as well to Michael Broenig who is one of the (if not the) most talented songwriters/producers/musicians in the smooth jazz universe. Every project he graces is sophisticated, smooth and funky. The tunes on "Bliss" will move you and Cindy's adaptation of Duke's "Squeeze Me" is absolutely gorgeous. After reading a negative review earlier, I felt compelled to do justice to this piece and give it the highest rating out there. I grew up listening to Miles and Freddie and they are untouchable as far as talent is concerned, but there is no doubt that this lady can play! If you are a fan of smooth jazz (or jazz in general), treat yourself to this CD, I guarantee you will be ultimately satisfied!!!

To look at her, then listen to her jazzy trumpet, one could say that Cindy Bradley is seasoned beyond her years. This is my second CD by this talented artist, Unscripted and now Bliss. She seems to grow stronger with deeper conviction in her smooth jazz sound. Her horn is clean such as Chris Botti, but with added rhythm & blues to sway your hips and tap your toes. In the 70's, Donald Byrd and the Mizell brothers, enjoyed tremendous success with fusion jazz such as this. Byrd was a hard-bop jazz trumpeter dating back to the Art Blakey era of the 50's. He later teamed with the Mizell brothers (producers formerly with Motown), together, they successfully helped create a new sound, fusion; by combining R&B with jazz... destiny took its course and a new genre was here to stay.

Cindy Bradley and her team, without a doubt, understand the meaning of fusion, as well as how to produce it. A Grammy nomination seems imminent, if not for this CD, then one in the near future.

If you love smooth jazz and have no prejudice towards crossover artists, then checkout Cindy Bradley, any album will do, she's that consistent. Cheers!!!

Ever since I was privliged to hear Cindy's BLOOM, I have been a huge fan of her brand of smooth jazz artistry. UNSCRIPTED was, in my opinion a nice progression, with the songs "MASSIVE TRANSIT", and particularly one of my all-time favorites "LIFTED".Now Cindy takes us to a higher plane with BLISS, which is the perfect title for any musical collection, but especially for this one. Songs such as "SHARP A STRUT","LOST AND FOUND","SQUEEZE ME", and of course, the title track(which has quickly become one of my all-time favorites) represent smooth jazz of the highest quality in my humble opinion.I play BLISS every day whether on my way to work,to the gym, exercising, or watching tennis on TV late at night after I get off from work.Im my mind Ms Bradley should be recognized as a member of the upper echelon of smooth jazz trumpeters, and i plan on seeing her perform at the Atlanta Smooth Music Festival in about 4 weeks.I look foward to that show with great anticipation, as well as her future projects.A STAR HAS BEEN LAUNCHED!!!

People who are biaised against SMOOTH JAZZ dont waste your time by telling us about Muzak or Elevator music. Its all been heard before. These 'labels' give no credibility to this particular 'genre' of jazz.
This kind of critcism was directed at the pioneers who bought us JazzFunk in the 70's and 80's.I laughed then at those criticisms and laugh again now!
SmoothJazz / lounge/Jazzelectronica are genres in constantly changing, developing Jazz today.
These are narrow minded opinions, keep them to yourself and carry on listening to 'whatever'
This is cool and sophisticated which is more than some of the unwarranted criticism you will read here.
To everyone else - give the track 'lifted' a listen.

An unexpected find. I had never heard of this girl, but she is great. If you loved the light trumpet jazz like Al Hirt and TJB, and you also like smooth jazz, you should give a listen.

'Bliss' not only a brilliant follow-up to the 2011 'Unscripted' album, but is also another golden rung in the ladder for the young trumpeter's climb to become a smooth jazz superstar.

Her studio recordings are the perfect introduction to her live performances. I have seen Cindy in concert twice in the last 18 months, and it is well worth the price of the ticket.
