5.0 out of 5 stars truly enjoyable....
Book Description (from back cover)

It was an offer I couldn't refuse: take some time off from teaching and help out at the opening of my friend's brother Mitch's fabulous Bliss Village ski resort. After all, thanks to my mother, I'd already dated most of the so-called eligible men in Tumbleweed, Arizona. What was left to hold me here?

Um,...

I like these christian romance novels, they are a quick read for me, I love spending a saturday reading a couple of them, and for the most part they are all similar, but I like the predictability of them. Some of them are good and most of them are alright, but this one was a little below that. The story is a guy, Mitch, is trying to prove that he is more responsible...

Um, cowardice? I haven't taken many risks outside of my familiar environment. Okay, try none. Still, if risk comes in the shape of tall, blond and handsome Mitch Windsor, how can I say no?

***This was a bit different than previous love inspired books that I have read. I would consider this more christian chick-lit than romance. I was laughing out loud quite a few times and I fell in love with "Guacamole" - not that I would want him being my room-mate. The characters were well defined and I enjoyed the suspenseful aspects of this story as well -- I kept wandering if my suspicions were correct. There were so many different aspects to this book -- not only was it witty and fun but it also had a strong message on trust -- trusting others and trusting God.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sparks fly as optimism & realism collide!, June 2, 2006

Gwen Sandler is known to her friends as the girl who is always up for adventure. So when her friend Candace encourages her to take a sabbatical from her teaching position to help her brother, Mitch, at his new ski resort, shouldn't Gwen jump at the chance? The problem is ... adventure is one thing when you have the security of home to return to. It's another thing entirely when you're picking up and moving that home to a new state and a new climate, away from your family and everything comfortable in your life!

When Mitch and Gwen meet there is immediate attraction between them. Mitch is drawn to Gwen's optimism and bright ideas, vastly different than his own realistic and sometimes negative attitude. And Gwen is drawn not only to Mitch's good looks, but to his determination to show that his life has changed by making a go of the ski resort.

But can Gwen get past the fact that the owner of the competing ski resort is Monica, Mitch's ex-girlfriend, who still seems to have quite a hold on his life? And can Mitch trust Gwen when suspicions fall on her for leaking information and sabotaging his plans?

I really enjoyed this book and found my heart breaking along with Gwen's when Mitch struggled to trust her. But Diann made both Mitch and Gwen such engaging characters that I empathized with each of them as they sought to trust in the Lord and grow past their weaknesses. A highly pleasurable read!

A cute story about a young teacher from the Arizona desert who takes a job as a cook at a B&B in the mountains at a ski resort. And she doesn't even ski! It seems that Gwen's friend, who got her the job working at the resort for her brother, Mitch, was intending to set the two of them up from the beginning. When Granny enters the picture, and starts grilling Gwen about her domestic habits, this is reinforced. Some misunderstandings make for a mildly twisting plot. Although if I were the heroine, I would've missed the magic because I would've become so frustrated with several of the obstacles that Gwen and Mitch faced, I would have walked away a lot earlier. Overall, this was an enjoyable, although predictable, read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Love Story, April 18, 2008
This review is from: Blissfully Yours (Bliss Village Series #2) (Love Inspired #351) (Mass Market Paperback)
Not only did this book enhance my love for God, it brought me to a point in my life to be more adventurous. After reading "Blissfully Yours", I started drinking lattes and even bought an iguana (after much research on raising iguanas.) Now I am reading the book again! With such easy reading and a romantic plot, I fall in love with reading, God, my husband, mocha lattes, and my new pet "Ziggy" over and over again.

I like these christian romance novels, they are a quick read for me, I love spending a saturday reading a couple of them, and for the most part they are all similar, but I like the predictability of them. Some of them are good and most of them are alright, but this one was a little below that. The story is a guy, Mitch, is trying to prove that he is more responsible with a ski resort business. Someone however is trying to make this challenging for him, the girl, Gwen, is bored with her current job and wants to try something new and she is a friend of his sister so she is helping him out. A lot about the plot was really obvious and it made it a little frustrating. It is no surpise who is giving them problems from the beginning and the fact that Gwen can not see it is just irritating. The end seems to be wrapped up quickly with no real suspense, they just kinda describ it away. As far as these quick read Christian romances go this one is below average.
