No good for pontoon boats,

Unlike "regular" boats that are usually fuelled via a flat horizontal opening on the DECK, you gas up a pontoon boat like you do a car: the gas cap is located on the SIDE of a 'toon's aluminum wall. I was glad to find out about the Enviro-flo I bought the product to retrofit one of my Blitz gas cans. It has never worked well for me and has leaked whenever I've used it for boat OR car. It's difficult to hold the can at a proper angle while holding down the "safety" trigger at the same time. It makes fuelling unwieldy and it leaks.
While I understand and appreciate the need to reduce fuel spills, pontoon boaters need a DIFFERENT kind of gas can spout to make that happen. This product leaks if you tip the can too high or if you apply any pressure on the can while fueling the boat. Gas gets into the plastic mechanics of the thing & it leaks. Sometimes a few drops; sometimes more. Perhaps it prevents bigger spills with smaller ones? Not being able to purchase an alternative gas can is a pain. The only good thing in THIS version of a Blitz can is the flexible spout. The prior on had a short hard plastic spout that NEVER once fully drained the can into my boat's fuel tank; the one before that had a tiny-gauge nozzle that took forever to drain the can AND it leaked, too.

Safe by reason of unable to use,

I fully agree this spout system is awful. Yes it is safe - by reason of not being able to use it. I tried to buy an original type spout at my local NAPA auto parts store and found that the older and user friendly units are not available anymore - they are considered to be "unsafe" for the environment. The store clerks have had a lot of bad feedback on the Enviro-flo spouts. One clerk told me he never spilled gas with the older spouts, but the new "safe" spouts it is quite "messy" filling the lawn mower and outboard motors. Avoid any can that has this installed. Go to Ebay and you will find the older spouts that will fit the gas cans.

If you want aggravation and another example of government interfering
with our daily lives and the products we are forced to use in the name of environmental safety then this is just the thing for you. If you want a a nozzle that simply pours with ease this isn't it.

This vendor did not send the proper products Blitz 81101 Enviro-Flo Accessory Card - Spout, ID Tag and Flex Tube (Purchased on 05/08/2010) and only sent the spouts. I ended up going to Walmart and buying the entire kits for $4.65 each for the COMPLETE Blitz 81101 Enviro-Flo Accessory Card - Spout, ID Tag and Flex Tube. Hope you enjoy my money as it will be the last spent with Amazon. Sincerely,DB

More spills and leaks than the old school spouts,

I have a few gas cans of different sizes to fill up the powered tools for the yard: lawn mower, snow blower, generator, etc. They had a sliding spill-proof sliding spout, where you had to hook the spout and press the can down towards the tank in order to dispense gas. They worked reasonably well, but none of the spouts are working any more (broken spring or mechanism) so I set out to find a replacement. Purchased two of these at the local big box home improvement store. Looks good on paper. Seems like they're the only product in town in any hardware store or supermarket. I needed spouts and like the idea of less spills (even though that has never been a problem for me) and being more environmentally friendly ... These spouts are not worth the money spent on them. They don't fit on two of my cans (never realized gas cans did not have a standardized or universal fitting) and do fit on the others, which incidentally are blitz upon closer inspection, so thanks to blitz for those spill-proof sliding spouts that lasted two years! These spouts make dispensing gas awkward because now you need to hold one hand on the spout to keep it open. The spouts poor very slow - with or without the plastic extension. Certainly slower than previous generation and the old school ones. I find that these splash fuel all over the surrounding area when air is being let into the system. The plastic extension helps when you stick that deeper into the tank, than you traditionally would. Despite tightening the fitting as tight as possible to the can, when dispensing close to the final amount of gas from a can ... it leaks on your hand, clothes, ground, ... Freaking great. I honestly have never spilled so much gas in years as I did this morning trying to fill up my riding mower and leaf vacuum! So, I grabbed an automotive funnel, took the spout off and just poured gas without a spout, two hands on the can -and- without spills. I have never had a problem dispensing gas from a can since I was a kid with the traditional style spouts ... and now this updated design is the best we can get? Back to the drawing board, America. From my experience and judging from the other comments, we are spilling more gas and wasting more time than ever. By the way, I never fill a can full to capacity. I've always used only 4 out of 5 (weight) or 2 out of 2 1/2 to aid in pouring with any spout.

I purchased this because the previous model that I had would cause spills. This model is much easier to use. It provides more visability and the flow of the liquid is easier to control.

This thing is awful, but it seems to be the only game in town. Blitz make a very poor quality can and spout. To add insult to injury, you have to spend an extra 6 bucks to actually get fuel to the car tank. I will have to go to the hardware store to try to make my own. I bet California had something to do with this.
