5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Blitz Yet
If you liked the first blitz on DC, or any of the other Blitz releases, you'll love this. The players each have different rankings as opposed to just the teams before. Also, you can make up your own players, teams, and playbooks. The minigames are okay, nothing really great there. 2.0 out of 5 stars Fumble-a-thon
The graphics look awesome and all the extra's are really nice, but the gameplay leaves alot to be desired. What is the deal with all the fumbles? The first game I played was good for the first half, but something happened after half-time and EVERY time I even touched the ball, I fumbled. I fumbled on kick-off's, my running back fumbled,my wide receivers all fumbled, and...

If you liked the first blitz on DC, or any of the other Blitz releases, you'll love this. The players each have different rankings as opposed to just the teams before. Also, you can make up your own players, teams, and playbooks. The minigames are okay, nothing really great there. A big plus is that this Blitz saves players, configurations, options, tournaments, and season each seperately, so if you want to save just your options, its 2 blocks instead of 99. Also each team now has 4 pages of offensive plays and 2 pages of defensive plays. My only complaint is i couldn't find a way to shut off the pregame help stuff, but overall a must have if your a blitz fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars The best nfl Game for Dreamcast?, September 16, 2000

Nfl blitz 2001 is an arcade football game...thats just what it is. But blitz 2k1 is a bit more than every other arcade game it has creation options, carrer, and a awsome multiplayer. It's fast gameplay is the best and it will last u for a long time... but if u don't like fast and furious arcade gameplay you might just want to look at nfl 2k1. The only flaw or major flaw I see in nfl blitz 2k1 is that is does NOT have internet multiplayer. And for people who bought blitz 2000, blitz 2001 has alot more to do and you will NOT get board of it quickly.

The first game I played was good for the first half, but something happened after half-time and EVERY time I even touched the ball, I fumbled. I fumbled on kick-off's, my running back fumbled,my wide receivers all fumbled, and my quarterback fumbled. There was even one play where I completed a pass downfield, my receiver was hit and fumbled(surprise), the defense picked it up, I tackled them and they fumbled, my offensive lineman recovered, was hit and he fumbled. I was not even using the turbo button(which is supposed to make it easier to fumble). That is NOT fun! Eliminate the fumbling, and you've got a great game!

1.0 out of 5 stars Football players with butter fingers = mass fustration, April 6, 2004
This review is from: NFL Blitz 2001 (Misc. Supplies)
DO NOT buy NFL Blitz 2001 even if its on sale for a cent!

The game is the most fustrating game i've ever played. In what other game would your recievers fumble the ball when they are tackled mere inches from the End Zone (sometimes on a first down, sometimes when the game is on the line)? This happened to me at least 3 times in one game! Needless to say it resulted in 3 costly turnovers and I lost the game. The hardest part was the fact that the game was on the EASY level. I expect this kind of CHEAP play on the hardest setting but not on easy. The constant fumbling by players throughout the game is a SERIOUS TURN OFF especially for fans who just want to enjoy a good game. The random and FREQUENT fumbles made this game a worthless piece of junk.

The game is also flooded with too many loading screens that get really old really fast when you just want to get into the action. Very poorly designed, Midway. If you still have a bad taste in your mouth from NBA Hoopz then AVOID this game. The graphics are on the same level and the announcer is the same.

Do not waste your hard earned money on this poor game! Read the other reviews that warn of the fumbling problem and do not make the mistake I did!

PLAY OR RENT BEFORE YOU BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you think this game is quality then think again. this game has nothing more than the original blitz!you fumble the dang ball any time any one touches you! you get intercepted if you even pass the ball! the mini games are twice as bad as the actual game and the graphics are as bad as super nintendo! Don't even get me started about the game play. it is so horrible. You have to walk in the direction the reciever you want to pass to! How bogus is that!

DO NOT GET IT! SPEND THE MONEY ON SOMETHING
THAT'S WORTH THE AMOUNT YOU PAY!
(Which means not this game because this is worth $$$tops)

1.0 out of 5 stars this is terrible, December 21, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: NFL Blitz 2001 (Misc. Supplies)
This game is pretty awful. Gameplay is lousy and offers nothing new over previous versions of the game. I played one game and fumbled 17 times and the CPU fumbled 14 times. The computer assistance is ridiculous when you get up by 10 points or more.
