so simple it's scary,
By A Customer
This review is from: Blizzard (Paperback)
The simplistic writing style of "Blizzard" hides an actual depth to the story. While it may seem surfacly that "Blizzard" is nothing more than another disaster/end of the world novel (which to a major extent the book enjoyably is) -- and a poorly written one at that, due to cliched dialogue and thin character descriptions -- there is more to this book. Not only is the story still relevent in todays' post-cold war world, the very doomsday device theorized -- weather modification -- is still a very viable hypothesis. What makes this book really stand away from books of a similar nature, however, is the climatic end, where not only is there a not-true-to-formula end-of-the-world ending, but there is a larger and more socially relevent surprise regarding our own nations' ability to withhold the truth from the people.

When this book came over 30 years ago, I wanted to buy it but could not spare the money at the time.I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It was well written with the requisite bad guys vs good guys. Scientific explanations were given so a reader could easily understand what was happening and why. Thank you Amazon for making this available and Amazon Prime for the free shipping. |
