Randy Rhodes At His Best! One of Rock's Best Albums Ever Now in MLPS Format!,
By
This review is from: Blizzard of Oz (Mlps) (Audio CD)
This mini-lp replica sleeve (mlps) version of Ozzy's solo debut after being kicked out of Black Sabbath for drug-related issues is a real treat for fans and a little less so for collectors. The mlps design isn't among the best I've seen out there but at least it's not the worst while the remastered sound quality is very good. Also included is a foldout containing all the lyrics in both English and Japanese. I don't have the older versions and so I can't tell if this is the infamous overdubbed version and for the record I think it is despicable to try to get out of paying royalties by overdubbing band member parts though I suspect that this is indeed an overdubbed version. As a guitarist, I'm really only interested in Randy's playing which is still what you get here and so I'm not going to complain too much about the album's content.
Randy's playing is inspired and you can clearly hear how much his playing influenced countless others like Malmsteen et al. The clarity and the speed at which he executes incredible scales and licks is a testament to his brilliant technique and I can only wonder at and dream of ever coming close to imitating what he does on the guitar. Many guitarists can play fast but very few can play so cleanly, tastefully and correctly at such speeds. For all rock guitarists, this album and "Diary of a Madman" are essential listening and both are must-haves in any metalhead's sonic library.

Ozzy Osbourne's Best Album Just Got Even Better!,,
By Rafael "RaFael" (Brazil, SC Joinville) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blizzard of Oz (Mlps) (Audio CD)
This Japanese mini-lp replica version of Ozzy Osbourne's best album is simply a work of art! Very beautifully designed with all the lyrics included and with a sound quality remastered to perfection. There are true classics as "I Don't Know", "Crazy Train", "Mr. Crowley".
This is by far the best version of this album that is out there; great sound quality, great packaging, great songs! A must have in any CD collector's library.
