de Blob 2 is a platformer which utilizes unique painting functionality as the main game mechanic along with classic platforming actions and low gravity space. De Blob 2 is a sequel in spirit to 2008's de Blob, although it is the first game in the series available on xbox 360. Set a few years after the events of the first game, action in de Blob 2 revolves around another attempt to wipe all colorful individuality from Prisma City and its residents. It's up to the player to join the Color Underground and bring color back to the world. Features include: multiplayer support, 12 new single player levels, new power-ups and epic boss battles.
In de Blob 2 Comrade Black and the Inkies are back with a whole new plot to rid the world of color. With all-new help from Papa Blanc and his flock of followers the Blancs, Blob and his friends will have their work cut out for them bringing color back to the citizens of Prisma City. Set off on an action-packed color adventure where custom paints, patterns and music bring the world to life. De Blob 2 is a creative evolution driven by your imagination.

Great Platforming Fun on the Xbox 360,
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: De Blob 2 (Video Game)
If there is one genre in which the Xbox 360 is starved of, it would be platforming games. De Blob 2 offers a fun, colorful, and cheery adventure similar to something you would see in a 3-D Mario game. Where most platforming games have you perform simple missions and quests, de Blob 2 integrates this formula with its genuine painting mechanics. Almost everything in the world can be painted with a wide variety of colors, from basic primary colors to more complex mixtures. As you paint and complete challenges, the world around you changes, from its music to the overall mood of the level. The game is designed so that both casual and hardcore gamers can enjoy the experience. Difficulties can be adjusted, optional challenges and collectibles can be sought after, and Pinky, Blob's companion, can enter the game at any time for 2 player blobbing. With 12 worlds, dozens of side scrolling levels, and cooperative/competitive multiplayer action, de Blob 2 is a must have for Xbox 360 owners.

What you won't find in De Blob 2: Firefights. Space monsters. Guns. Gangsters. What you will find: hours of brightly-colored fun. This game is the polar opposite of COD, Gears, Dead Space, GTA, and most anything else in the popular action genre. But that's a good thing- it's a great change of pace from that side of the video game universe. It's a fun, surreal, dare I say... cute game that has kept my attention for hours. The plot in a nutshell- it picks up where De Blob 1 left off, and Comrade Black has moved on to this world, eliminating all color, causing a drab, gray, boring society of oppressed citizens. The hero (De Blob) has the ability to soak up paint into himself and lay it onto buildings and the land itself. Levels start as drab gray areas, but as you navigate them, painting your way through goals to complete the level, the music starts to come in. A couple notes trickle in at first, more color brings richer music, and by the time you've painted the whole area, it's a catchy, jazzy soundtrack that doesn't get repetitive or annoying. There's plenty of other power-ups as you go on, but this is the meat of the game, adding color to the world and bringing it back to life. The only downside I've yet to find is that you can't save it on command, so if you start a level, be ready to finish the bulk of it (20-30 minutes) until you reach the point where you can upgrade Blob, or else you'll have to (and probably enjoy it all over again) start at the beginning. Controls are accurate, easy to get the hang of, and it's an easy game to play... maybe just a little too easy, but like I said, it's supposed to be fun. You aren't saving the Earth from space zombies, defending a military base or running from the mafia. The story is simple, more than a little predictable, but fun to follow. Except for a few images such as a Raydian (the residents of this world) being "baptized" into becoming a Blanc by being pushed into a pool of black ink that envelops him that a parent might have to explain, this would be a great game for young kids as well. My gaming tastes usually run in the racing sim/sports genres, but since the first time I played De Blob 2, this game has held my attention and had me anxiously waiting to get out of work to go home and play more.
