Pretty good price for a lot of entertainment,
By A Customer
This review is from: ABC Block Books (Board book)
I think this is a great deal - 26 books for less than a dollar a book. I've already given this to a couple of families with babies and they love it. Also, the box is not your average piece of throwaway packaging. Like Eeyore with the balloon and the empty honeypot, babies love to take the books out of the box and put them back in again. It's sure better than pulling all the books out of your bookcase onto the floor, another favorite activity for this age! Unlike the other review, I think the illustrations are cute and colorful, but as always, that's a matter of taste.

ABC Blocks Are Fun At First,
By A Customer
This review is from: ABC Block Books (Board book)
My 18 month old daughter loved the jumble of books that came out of the box. After this novelty wore off, we looked inside the books. Each book has a medicore color drawing of about four pictures each. This novelty wore off quickly too. I will note, however, that my five year old has been building tunnels with them!

So many ways to play! A long-term favorite.,

Our daughter is 15 months old, and this set of block books has been one of her favorites for many months. Early on we would make little towers of books for her to knock over. Then she became entranced with taking them out of the box one by one and making us read them to her. Then putting books back in the box, then stacking them herself...and now we have fun matching each letter block to a letter in an ABC book or puzzle. I'm sure there's still more to come.Sure, the books themselves wouldn't be individual bestsellers. Each has just a few extra-thick pages, each with a single picture. But they're pleasing to hold and look at, and each child will have his/her particular favorites. Our daughter loved "S" and "O" and was soon recognizing and naming those letters elsewhere.

I bought this book for my son who loves to sing the alphabet and is 21 months and learning lots of words. We love this book! He knows almost every single word in each letter book. The illustrations are cute and very accurate. i would highly recommend this book to 15months to 2 years. It is a great tool to learn new words.

2 1/2 yr old loves these little books,

Once my son became interested in the alphabet, he loved thesebooks. My little boy is almost 3 and still loves thesebooks....albeit he never stacked them up like blocks, but we have them scattered :) all over the house and whenever he sees one he brings it over to me announcing what letter it is and then we sit down and look at the pictures. He even sleeps with a couple of these charming little books everynight!

An excellent toy and a friendly introduction to the alphabet,

When my daughter received this box of books as a first birthday present, I was skeptical: surely ABC books were some distance in the future? But she has played with it nearly every day for eight months. Small hands have no trouble with these chunky little books, which are easy to stack. Since each contains only four words with accompanying pictures, sometimes we find ourselves reading just one or two, sometimes working our way through the entire box. She now recognizes all the letters and can name almost all the pictures, and the box is holding up well despite regular use.I'm surprised that a couple of reviews mention the illustrations unfavorably. They are simple, expressive and stylish.

Fantastic toy,

My son received these as a Christmas gift at age 3 months and they have been a huge hit ever since. He loved looking at them and opening them at first, then taking the books in and out of the box, then stacking, now at 18 months he loves to point at the pictures when I say the word. They are small enough to pop in the diaper bag for trips. He can't get enough of them. Our 2 and 3 year old friends love them as well-they're a hit with everyone. A very long-lasting and educational toy.

Several Kinds of Fun,

My 9 month old really enjoys this box of books. She loves to knock over the towers her Daddy builds with them, and she enjoys opening them and looking at the pictures. Sometimes, she'll even sit still long enough for me to "read" them to her. I took the box with me to a playgroup and one of the kids cried when I had to take it home with me!

Best Toy Ever,
By A Customer
This review is from: ABC Block Books (Board book)
We bought this for our daughter when she turned one and found it to be the best toy we've ever purchased. When she was one, she learned the names of animals, toys, food, etc. As her vocabulary developed, she learned her alphabet. Now that she's two, she "reads" the books to us. When she's tired of reading, she stacks the books like blocks. Another wonderful thing about these is that they are quiet to play with. They are great to take places because they offer so much, one toy keeps her attention for quite a long time. It's also a great gift.

These are very thick, very sturdy little books. My three children have all played with them. The box is a great tote that holds these books very easily. It has a string handle that is great for carrying. Little hands can easily manipulate these books with out ripping them. THey can easily be stacked, put in the tote box, etc.
These are great books for children who are not really interested in sitting for long periods of time to be read to. You can easily read one book (which is about four words total) or two books or stop when you need to. The pictures are simple one picture to a 'page' with one word on the opposite 'page'. Bright colors are used as well. Enjoy. |
