Editorial Reviews

2012 release from the Hip Hop heavyweight, the third in a series of three volumes of The Block Brochure: Welcome To The Soil series, which were all released simultaneously. Bay area rapper/businessman E-40's influential career has helped form the identity of West Coast Rap and the Hyphy scene in particular. Although he has not had the profile of some of his contemporaries, he is highly respected within the industry.

2.0 out of 5 stars The trend of underproduced beats continues August 11, 2012
By Dutch
Format:Audio CD
Volume 3 has a similar feel to the other volumes, but the production seems to be a bit harder than the other two and the overall tone is a little bit darker. The trend of underproduced beats continues, with hard hitting drums, heavy bass (don't mistake that for basslines) and stripped down beats. E-40 continues with the slang and wild adlibs, flowing to the production rather awkwardly but oddly on flow. The content surrounds the streets once again, as usual. I prefer the second volume out of the three if you had to choose one.

This CD was great, each track was better than the last. Can't wait until he releases more of the Block Brochure series! I heard 4, 5, and 6 was in progress.

5.0 out of 5 stars SUPER WEST COAST March 24, 2013
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
E-40 never fails to exemplify the meaning of "unique style", entertainment, and represent Northern California. The Soil 1, 2, and 3 is beyond great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Underrated Album January 30, 2013
By Anthony
Format:Audio CD
I dont think this single album alone deserves 5 stars but i really dont think it deserved 2 stars like it was previously given. In my opinion E-40 is one of the realest artist. All of his albums are classics for the simple reason being that he has IT. He's got lyrical content that truly means something, he always messes with the best producers so all of the tracks slap, he's got the lingo/terms that are %100 original and catchy, and the way he says it, the ways he words it, the way he times it. Nobody nowadays can flow like him. This album reflects all of that. It is not his best album but still better than any mainstream albums getting all the buzz right now. This CD is a keeper and ill be bumpin it for a long long time. I recommend buyin it.
