amazing surf racks,

The surf rack is very easy to install. I am a beginner in the whole surfing thing and I'm starting off with a 8.5 foam-board. Last week I drove from SF valley to San Diego (150mi) and back doing 70-80mph with the board mounted and had absolutely no problems. I drive a TSX so it fit just fine. The only thing that you might wanna consider is that the racks wrap through the vehicle so it might inconvenience the back seat passengers.
I've never used any other surf-racks before so I can't really compare it with other products out there, but for the price this is very good buy.

Easy to put on and take off. Hold up to two longboards/funboard and six, thats right SIX, shortboards! I went on a trip with my friends 1 funboard and 2 shortboards, we were driving on the freeway at around 70-75mpg, no problems, no noise, etc. Worked perfectly.
The only con, if there are non surfers in the car with you they might be annoyed with the straps hanging down, but all you have to do is wrap it up. Takes a away a little head room in the cabin but not even noticeable! If you're looking for a soft rack that holds a lot of boards, easy to install and uninstall, then get this one!

I purchased this rack for a trip I made to the Hawaiian Islands. It was compact and very easy to install on the roof of our auto. The key to success on using this rack for surfboards is to place the board face down with the fins close to the straps. No problem even on windy Maui days. Wish I bought it sooner for CA. Great product.

I have no idea why someone would pay for an expensive roof rack for their surfboard when this thing does the trick. It's easy to install and holds the boards just fine. I drive a honda accord and have an 8 ft board, the board hangs off the roof and catches a little wind while I drive, but the rack keeps the board steady. Even if the board wiggles a bit while I am driving, I am confident the rack will hold tight.

Once you figure how to position them on the car to reduce noise, they work great! Easy to install. I'm pleased.

Works great. I was really hesitant buying a soft rack but this one is great. I have to drive about 200 miles round trip to go surfing and I have had 6 shortboards on top and did 70 mph no problem. Just make sure you boards are in a good bag. The straps can dig into the boards rail. Overall I'm impressed.

I bought it for my surfer boyfriend who needed a pair of soft racks. We tested them with a long board and were very happy with the racks. The straps work fairly good with a lock easy to install. However, when the speed of his car exceeds 50, the straps get loose a little bit. But the board didn't risk falling off anyways. I guess this could be a good thing for surfers to avoid speed ticket? LOL

Rack does not inspire confidence, the straps are too short for large boards,

I bought this rack because my old Da Kine soft rack one I had for 12 years had worn out on one of the rack straps. I mostly wanted to use it to transport 1 or 2 windsurf boards 9'6 and 10'6. I put the 9'6 board on, it is shaped about like a gun and I quickly realized that the strap tightening mechanism can slip just from me pulling on them...not good. I ended up tying one set of straps to the other to make sure that if my board did slip It wouldn't completely loosen up. Also the straps were just barely big enough to fit around my board which is only 58cm wide at the widest. I am scared to put my 10'6 board on and drive on the freeway the 9'6" rattled around a lot more than on my old Da Kine, at 50 mph++. The strap down system needs to be much better and the straps need to be longer. The pads are nice and did not dent my car. This would be fine for 2 short boards but don't buy for anything longer than 9 feet!! I will probably use the one good rack from my old set if I need to transport both boards at once.
Not recommended. I would get a new Da Kine one but I can't find it online. |
