5.0 out of 5 stars This book keeps it simple!
I found this book to be refreshingly user-friendly and well written. The authors know how to simplify tax information and they provide many useful tips to save time and money. The book also assumes that the readers are "no dummies" which is just plain smart. Thank you H&R Block for helping me to understand how to get my tax and financial life in order!

2.0 out of 5 stars Will save you a couple of hours with your tax professional
This book discusses tax planning as seen from 10,000 miles above the ground. It covers only the most basic ideas instead of going into deeper explanations. When a topic gets more complicated the authors refer the reader to a tax professional or a financial advisor. The last paragraph of the book summarizes the problem in the best way: "As we said before, we think...

This book discusses tax planning as seen from 10,000 miles above the ground. It covers only the most basic ideas instead of going into deeper explanations. When a topic gets more complicated the authors refer the reader to a tax professional or a financial advisor. The last paragraph of the book summarizes the problem in the best way: "As we said before, we think utilizing a tax professional is a smart idea. A traditional tax professional will help you prepare and file your return and give you plenty of tax-wise advice along the way." (page 212) It's a pity that the book itself doesn't contain all this "tax-wise advice."
If you are looking for an introduction to taxes that will cut your time with your tax professional by a couple of hours this book will serve you well. However, if you are looking for an exhaustive source of information about taxes in order to handle them yourself, this book is not for you.
