Book Description

Will protecting children throughout the world cost Natasha her own family?
Devastated by the loss of her brother, Natasha Senecot works to expose the dangers of Matthew Chrysler's violent video games, succeeding in bankrupting and humiliating him.
Chrysler retaliates and sends a hit man after her. Natasha is forced to fake her own death to protect her children, but after witnessing another tragedy, Natasha won't hide any longer.
In a race against time, can Natasha expose Matthew Chrysler before his assassin murders her family and shatters her world?

Cami Checketts is a genius! She writes about topics that aren't widely discussed, in and out of books, and she does such a brilliant job of crafting these things into wonderful stories that touch your heart and remain with you for days afterwards. There are so many emotions in this book, so many different layers of love and bravery and hope and I loved every moment of it!
Myra, Blogger, Pieces of Whimsy
From the very first chapter, Blog This grabs your gut and your heart with surprising action and touching moments. Cami Checketts blends suspense, humor, and good clean romance into a story that will stick with you.
Daniel Coleman, Author of Gifts and Consequences

Editorial Reviews

Review

"I absolutely loved this book! Cami is one of my favorite authors and she has never let me down. The book starts out with a mom and her two children playing in the snow, enjoying being with each other and having a blast. Then out of the blue their world is turned upside down.
The book was filled with a lot of suspense, but there was also "Cami humor", (which I love) and a little romance, or a lot, depending on which way you look at it. Seems it was coming from all directions!" - I'd Rather Be Reading at the Beach Reviews
"Natasha is a mother first and foremost. Her priority is her children. She is also a blogger who tries to protect children from the machinations of an unscrupulous man who creates violent video games with subliminal messages to teach children to kill. There are many plot twists that even though you know what the objectives of the story are, you are kept guessing and reading! I started this book at 10 pm, not my brightest moment. I forced myself to stop reading at midnight and was back at the book at 6 am." - Bookworm Lisa

From the Author

Blog This deals with more serious themes and situations than my other novels. The light in the book is the strength and bravery of the heroine and the joy her children bring, especially her Down syndrome daughter who was inspired by my own angelic niece, Alexandria Lynn, who is as beautiful as she is kind.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very scary book December 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a nonstop thriller about a young mother who was blogging about violent video games. The maker of the games decided to kill her to stop the blog and sent a hitman. There were some unbelievable spots, but, overall, it was fast-paced, exciting, and a can't-put-it-down book. It was also clean--no sex and no swear words. I would recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars certainly not Christian, but an exciting tale October 1, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I bought it as a Christian novel from a Christian list. It's not even vaguely Christian. It's an exciting story of clean action, desperately assaulting a woman driven to save children because of a horrific event in her past. It's messy emotionally. In fact, it's more about emotion than anything, but if you like mystery thrillers (& I generally do not) you'll enjoy this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cami Checketts has talent April 16, 2014
By liz
Format:Kindle Edition
There is nothing I did not like about this book. I liked that there were NOT fifty pages of "I like her/him but she/he doesn't like me" and ending with, "Oh he/she really did like me all along". Everyone reads blogs in real life and it was brilliant to weave that into the story. Cami wasn't afraid to have strong supporting characters that ended up being as likeable as the main character. I cared about what happened to them. The book had a similar feeling of Audrey Hepburn's "Wait Until Dark".

5.0 out of 5 stars You won't be able to put it down December 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I usually read a book once and I'm good. Blog This however is full of suspense and excitement it's hard to put it down once you start reading it. I've read it three times and each time I react as if I had just picked it up. Have read all of Cami's books and enjoyed each one but I love this one. Just when you think you know what's going to happen Cami leads you down a different path. This is not a book you want to start reading before you go to bed...it will keep you awake. Highly recommend this book, you won't be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars another great Cami Checketts read September 21, 2013

I really enjoyed this book. I wanted to give it 5 stars, but there was one part where the main character and her friend were talking about the villain and the friend asked if Natasha liked kissing him. I have been accosted by someone and let me tell you I didn't sit around after and talk about how great it was. That part of the story just didn't ring true to me. It was like she wasn't afraid of him when he had shot her. It is a clean book, but has a few swear words. I think the subject was very applicable to the things that happen in our world today. It's worth the read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clean romance, action, twists--delivered as promised. September 27, 2013

Format:Kindle Edition
Right from the start, this book grabbed my gut and my heart with surprising action and touching moments. Cami Checketts blends suspense, humor, and good clean romance into a story that has stuck with me. Every time I thought the action would level out and the characters would just sit back and be predictable, they did something to surprise me. The characters are distinct and realistic. I found the relationship between the parents and their special needs child to be believable. Blog This also brings to light the issue of violent video games and their impact on teens. If you like clean romance and thrillers you will enjoy this book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Needs an editor from early on July 26, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I hate to give a rating under three stars but I finally gave up on finishing this book. It started out okay, but then the writing became awkward ("Her head swiveled on its axis"). My main problem with it was the main character. First, everyone in the book was good looking and apparently impossible to resist. Everyone Natasha met fell in love with her...her ex, the detective, even the killer, for gosh sales! I got really tired of all these men trying to kiss her and making snide remarks to each other like a bunch of high school boys. The plot started out okay, but the book needed an editor from the very beginning. Make the people more real, smooth out the writing, and for crying out loud, leave some of the romance out. There does not need to be sexual chemistry between the lead character and everyone in pants!

The story was far-fetched but I stuck with it until about half way through, whereupon I was so disgusted that I stopped reading.

Spoilers below...

A hired assassin is after the main character Natasha. At the beginning of the book the hitman shoots her in the abdomen but the wound is not fatal. Then later in the book he comes back to finish the job and threatens her life on several occasions. He stalks her at her son's baseball game, the grocery store, a church bathroom, and sneaks into her house multiple times to plant bugs so he can taunt her and leaves threatening notes, etc. She doesn't change her behavior at all, she just gets some mace and hopes for the best.

Then he sneaks into her house and kisses her. Instead of being horrified like any woman would be, she is excited by the kiss. Rapists will claim that their victims "want" to be raped, and here you have an otherwise fairly normal mom being excited about a hitman who previously shot her breaking into her house and kissing her...you know, because it's been awhile since she's been kissed. Blech.

Here are some excerpts from the book; this is Natasha explaining to her friend what happened when the hitman broke into her house:

Sherry, regarding the "kiss": "Okay, but you've got to tell me if it was good"...
Natasha: "I don't think it was good, but I haven't been kissed in a really long time, so I guess it was kind of exciting."

"He had a hand over my mouth so I wouldn't scream...Then he looked at me, well you know...really looked at me, like I was the only thing that existed. He told me I was beautiful and kissed me. Then, she licked her lips and had to admit, "I guess for a second I was something other than terrified."

This disgusting garbage shouldn't exist in print. When a woman is forcibly kissed by a violent intruder I promise you the last thing on her mind is anything but sheer terror and to suggest otherwise is disgusting.
