Book Description

Bloggers' Delight Vol. 1 takes a refreshing approach to Love and Redemption by offering several depictions of the theme while featuring authors of varying cultural backgrounds and genders. Bloggers' Delight is a revolutionary literary concept, which utilizes the internet's influence of web logs and Americans deep-rooted passion for poetry and prose. In addition to pursuing writing, the project representatives careers range from Educator, Housewife, Graduate Student, Programmer/Analyst, Network Specialist, Commercial Artist, to Retired Military Professional. Review

I love it, love it, love it! These bloggers know how to tell a story. --Best Selling Author - Nina Foxx

Through poignant and passionate prose, thought-provoking and entertaining words, this book eloquently and intriguingly expels the pains and pleasures of the human experience. --Elissa Gabrielle, author of Good to the Last Drop and upcoming, A Whisper to a Scream

To read these writers stories is like watching a movie. His talent for storytelling vividly puts you in the mind of the characters even as you live the scenes in your imagination. Is this fiction, or real life? --Christopher McCaleb Blessed, Broken & Given Mentoring

Love and redemption are the common themes in the new compilation Bloggers' Delight: Volume One from Firefly Publishing and Entertainment (edited by Cedric Harris). In this new short story collection sprinkled with poetry from various artists, readers will find stories of love, breakups, and tales of war (both military and urban). In this anthology written by various writers who also blog, there are a few standout stories, including Diane Dorce's "Smoke," which tells the tale of a young man named Tyrell released from prison early only to face a gangster who wants him dead and a family he never knew. There's also "Rey of Hope" by Cordenia Paige, a story in which many who've known and lost love will relate. Finally, there's my favorite of the book, "Toss-A-Cross" by Torrance Stephens, a dark comedic answer to street lit. It tells the story of a man named Mac who must protect his family and property from wannabee thugs sent by his ex to either scare or do harm. Of the poetry, Saadia Ali Aschemann's work is another worthwhile discovery. Though some of the stories have their problems (telling more than showing, lack of character descriptions, and minor editing issues) Bloggers' Delight: Volume One is still a decent introduction to some up and coming authors as well as an intro to some interesting short story characters that may one day become the focal points of even greater novels. Recommended. --Midwest Book Review

5.0 out of 5 stars Blogging With A Purpose, February 8, 2008
This review is from: Bloggers' Delight: Stories on Love and Redemption (Paperback)
Bloggers' Delight: Stories on Love and Redemption is a collaboration of unique and gritty stories written by several bloggers. What is a Blogger? A blogger is a person that writes articles, opinion or snip-its of this and that on the internet. Some write for political reasons, some write as a means of expressing themselves, or some write to improve their writing skills. Many bloggers simply write for the joy that it gives them.

Cordenia Paige sets the tone of love with "Rey of Hope". This tells of a young woman who learns that her boyfriend does not share her feelings. In "One to Remember", R. Fitzgerald tells the story of romance as Everett goes out of his way to impress Samaya. His dream is shattered in one quick moment. Diane Dorce's story "Smoke" and Terrence Stevens' "Toss-A- Cross" demonstrates the extent of a parents' love for their children. April Hayes' novel excerpt "Negotiating Compromises" is a set of compromises with diverse outcomes. "The Mending" by D. R. Johnson brings Jarel Deak home from Iraq with more than the war on his mind. He has a question to answer that can cost him everything. Throughout the book, there are unique poems of love and acceptance by Saadia Ali Aschemann.

The contributors of this book, in my opinion, were successful at expressing their love for words. As the contributors state in their introduction, they have set the tone for bloggers everywhere and introduces others to the unique and fast growing world of blogging. This book is recommended to any one looking for something new and exciting. I look forward to reading more from each collectively and individually in the future.
