Betty Hutton was always a great singer. She still sounds good today. This CD is a treasure. Every song a classic. Love it!

OK CD, January 10, 2009
This review is from: Blonde Bombshell (Audio CD)
OK, I'll admit it it: I'm a Betty Hutton fan. Perhaps not of her dramatic work in such films as The Greatest Show On Earth or Somebody Loves Me where I felt she was way over the top (Oh Buttons!)but as a musical comedy actress, Hutton was quite good. She is downright adorable in Annie Get Your Gun and The Miracle of Morgan's Creek Gun. Therefore, I am always on the lookout for CDs that will hopefully offer something more than those already in print. Unfortunately, this CD, Blond Bombshell, does not deliver the goods. The only two rarities here are the lively and humorous "Banana Boat" (Oomba- Oomba- Oomba) with Nelson Riddle's wonderful arrangemant; and "Arthur Murray Taught me Dancing In A Hurry" from a vintage radio preview of the soundtrack of The Fleet's In. That's it folks. Oh yes, there's a beautiful color photo of Hutton in the forties on the CD cover too. Perhaps in 2009, some record company will reissue The Saints and Sinner Ball album on Warner Brothers Records. It's not Hutton at her best, but it is an unusual concept album whose songs have not been transferred to CD. Still, what are the odds that another Betty Hutton CD will be offered in the next few years with "Banana Boat"? And what is the story with the price of this CD? There's only one CD in this album.

what a talent!, March 18, 2008
This review is from: Blonde Bombshell (Audio CD)
if you haven't seen any of Betty's You Tube videos, I can only say "go there now!".... the music and lyrics are brilliant and this woman was a powerhouse talent in her day... this particular CD captures her at her best - what a voice, what energy...and what a trip down memory lane...
