5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album, Great Show!, February 9, 2001

I just saw Chris Connelly do a solo show at the Hideout in Chicago last night covering most, if not all, of the new album. I could listen to this new CD's for years! The vocals are similar to (but more sincere) than any of David Bowie's best work. The lyrics are well-crafted and personal, and the melodies are complex enough to add value with every listen. I highly recommend adding this to your collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars better and better, May 14, 2001
This review is from: Blonde Exodus (Audio CD)
This album is even more realized than the Ultimate Seaside Companion was, which is saying quite a bit.

One of the greatest voices around. No question. Up there with Bowie and Scott Walker.

I won't go into his industrial past with KMFDM and the like, except to say that that's what got me into Connelly's music, and I havn't listened to KMFDM in 5 years, but still listen to Connelly.

It's pop. Great vocals. Good songs. Pretty. Emphatic. Heartfelt. Bowiesque. Sorry, but it is. I like Bowie, though. It's a compliment.

Buy the thing. The songs are quite good, too..

5.0 out of 5 stars Whats going on Chris?, November 24, 2003

I cannot for the life of me understand how this guy went from singing in industrial metal bands like Revolting Cocks and Ministry with Allen Jourgenson to doing music like this. It confounds me. Well, whatever. I will still be listening to this for years, while the industrial thing goes away.It is a very good album and I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Bowie, or Scott Walker or even Suede. Its kind of glammy, but this guy is definitely not a glam rocker. What impressed me the most was the sophistication and depth of his lyrics. Definitely a deep thinker. The only complaint I have is that he could have toned down the drums a little bit. They are a little too harsh and industrial in contrast to the lushness of the rest of the album. Thumbs up.
