3.0 out of 5 stars Another Comic Adventure, May 1, 2009

This review is from: Blondie 28: Beware of Blondie [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The film begins in their living room where Cookie is practicing on the piano. Dagwood smokes a cigar. What did it cost? Dagwood does his taxes. [Why is Dagwood so confused over numbers?] Garbage is collected early in the morning. "Give me strength." Dagwood is tired the next morning. [Is this funny?] A business client arrives from Toby Enterprises. They visit the site and go to lunch. Will people gossip? Would a business executive carry a lunchbox? [No, that's what an attaché case is for.] Will Dagwood miss his bus? "It's a real name." Miss Clifton visits again about the contract. Another restaurant for lunch. There are jokes about a foreign language. Dagwood learns why he can't get that item. That contract is in her hotel room. Blondie and the kids drop by and learn that Dagwood is out to lunch, again.

Has Dagwood fallen for an old scam? [Do they check the background of prospective clients?] Now Dagwood is in trouble with Blondie. The next morning Dagwood gets the truth about the contract. What can he do? Dagwood dreams of his fate. A call from J. C. Dithers brings news. But Dagwood must mail his tax return immediately and runs out the front door at night? Who will he meet and surprise?

This was the end of the movie series. Did Arthur Lake get arrested for smoking weed and the scandal ended the series? Or was the appeal of this series declining along with movie audiences? Could it compete with the shows on broadcast TV? [Did Fran Drescher copy her laugh from Dagwood?]
