We could not view this film. The story would have been good, but the quality of the VHS was very poor, noisy and skipped. We got rid of it because we couldn't see it. IT was a shame because from what we did see, it would have been a fun and entertaining movie.

A Comic Treatment of Household Budgets,

This review is from: Blondie 5: Blondie on a Budget [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Daisy fetches the newspaper from the replacement newsboy. Dagwood discusses fishing with Marvin and joining the trout club. Blondie is checking figures on the family budget. "Hello Alvin." A visitor arrives, Joan is an old friend of Dagwood. Does Blondie want a new fur coat? "You know I never interfere." Joan drives a Packard convertible and takes Dagwood for a ride. There is a joke with voice impersonation. While Joan's car is fixed she and Dagwood see a movie. Marvin provides an alibi for Dagwood. "Sure is nice to be home." Dagwood's lost fishing equipment was found. Was Blondie mean all day? Blondie was not fooled at all.Dagwood won $200 but lost the ticket stub that is needed to collect. Joan must sign to collect. Dagwood wants to buy Blondie that fur coat. Blondie wants to buy Dagwood a membership in the trout club. Will there be a mix-up? Will Blondie leave Dagwood? Will a lawyer talk to Blondie and change her mind? The radio brings news about that trout club. The film ends with Dagwood's famous mad dash out of his house. Some people are always running late. This film is a comic treatment of the serious problem of household budgeting. While some say the conflict is over money, it is really about power and who rules.

Dagwood (Arthur Lake) is trying to sweet talk Blondie (Penny Singleton), who is working seriously on the household budget, into giving him $200. After seeing his father put too much sugar into his coffee, Baby Dumpling (Larry Simms) spills the beans and tells his mother that daddy wants the money to join The Trout Club. Blondie wanted to buy a new fur coat. Alvin walks in to offer social comfort, but when he offers to answer the front door, who should it be but Rita Hayworth. Here's where the fun begins. Isn't that taxi driver talented with impersonations? By the way, Baby Dumpling has his first wiggly tooth. The next film in this series is BLONDIE HAS SERVANT TROUBLE.
