Gimme more of that'a rock and roll!!!, October 1, 2007
This review is from: Blondie Chaplin (Audio CD)
What a great little album from Blondie Chaplin!! Known to some as Rock and Roll because of the cover art, it is actually self-titled Blondie Chaplin.
Blondie's sound here is similar in style to his album with The Flame - good solid rock and roll circa 1977!! Not a wasted track. The talented Mr. Chaplin wrote, sings, plays guitar, bass and keyboards on every track with drums being handled by the ever reliable Ricky Fataar. Scattered throughout the album are some very unique Blondie guitar solos which are guaranteed to make you smile!!
This album is a solid, cohesive listening experience all the way through and is highly recommended for fans. I never get tired of hearing Blondie sing or play and I don't think he ever wrote anything I couldn't appreciate.
Track listing:
1. Bye Bye Baby
2. Can You Hear Me
3. Crazy Love
4. Woman Don't Cry
5. Loose Lady
6. Be My Love
7. Lonely Traveler
8. Riverboat Queen
9. Say You Need Me
10. For Your Love
11. Gimme More Rock n' Roll
If you are looking for more of Chaplin's work, you will find he plays and sings 2 of his own songs on Rick Danko's album Cryin Heart Blues and 3 on Anton Fig's album Figments. He sings/plays on the album Ostrich Man that he did with trio named Skollie in 1992 which was only released in his home country of South Africa. We are still waiting to hear Blondie's 2001 unreleased album Fragile Thread which some say is his best work and includes guest appearance from Ronnie and Keith of the Stones.
In the meantime, don't miss Blondie's remarkable 2005 acoustic CD release titled Between Us, available only from BigKarmaRecords>com.

A Good Start, April 14, 2001
This review is from: Blondie Chaplin (Audio CD)
I am a long time fan of Blondie Chaplin having heard him with his original band The Flames in South Africa,(later The Flame) and then as a Beachboy and as a session player with loads of people. Liked this album a lot. Always hoped for a follow-up. I heard that he did a second album called Skollie but have never seen it. This is a good listen. Buy it, you won't be sorry.

If you like the voice, check out "Sail on Sailor" and "Funky Pretty" on the Beach Boys' "Holland" album.
