Servants, spooks, and some fun!!,

This is a very good one to see from the Blondie series. If you like Spooky Comedies as I do then you should enjoy this one. It's not the quality of Ghost Breakers (another great spooky comedy) but still a fun night complete with Daisy the family dog who gets scared and shakes, Dagwood getting the flashlight stuck in his mouth, the funny man who has to spend the night in the Haunted house as part of an initiation, and of course the Servants who turn out to be trouble...ha ha Enjoy!

Daisy can't get the newspaper because a black cat went across her path (Daisy is actually a male). Baby Dumpling knows his parents all too well and Alvin (Danny Mummert) comes in to offer his good morning advice.
Fay Helm played Mrs. Fuddle. She played Alvin's mother in four Blondie films this being her last Blondie film. Fay Helm passed away on September 27, 2003 at the age of 94. This film, the sixth in the series, is real cute. The Bumsteads stay in a haunted house with secret doors and secret passages. Watch the fun begin. Can you find the upside-down corn flakes box? Funniest Line: "So this is the way rich people eat". (Larry Simms) The next film in the series is BLONDIE PLAYS CUPID.

Blondie Has Servant Trouble
A taxicab drives to a big house in an isolated area. Blondie, Dagwood, Baby Dumpling, and Daisy get out for a visit. Will something scare them? Then the credits roll. Blondie wishes she had a maid to help with housework. Alvin brings local news. Dagwood is late again. Mistaken identification? Dithers has a task for Dagwood and his family. They find a visitor. [Are the empty houses symbolic?] Then a couple shows up. [Are they legitimate?] There are jokes about a clothes closet. Was the previous owner a magician? "He's done it again." Dinner is served. Baby Dumpling observes the weather. Can a dog call the servants? Did they hear a scream? What happened to Anna? Is the telephone dead? Who is at the door? A newspaper clipping explains things. Is there danger? Dagwood investigates, then saves Blondie from danger. The police arrive to wrap things up. Dithers rewards Dagwood. [$10 was a lot of money back then.] "You just can't win." Hollywood changed the stories from the comic strip to make them more dramatic. This film warns against a phony lottery scam. |
