No-Holds-Barred Blondie!,
By Greg (Wisconsin) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Blondie: Live in New York (DVD)
I've always enjoyed Blondie's hits from the late 70s and early 80s, but never considered myself a fan until I had the pleasure of seeing them live this past summer on their No Exit tour. At an amazing 54 years of age, Deborah Harry won me over immediately with her enthusiasm, energy and her determination to win over any crowd fortunate enough to see her do what she does best...perform! I was ecstatic when I discovered the tour was released on DVD. Deborah Harry offers a unique gift in her performance that VERY few performers rarely, if ever, possess in their careers, and that is clearly evedient on this DVD.

FABULOUS!,

This review is from: Blondie: Live in New York (DVD)
Blondie's new concert dvd is simply fantastic fabulous. Debbie Harry's voice sounds stronger than ever, and this set includes most of her hits. The only one that was left out of the concert that I really missed was "The Tide Is High." I loved the version on the live cd and was looking forward to seeing the live video version. However, I highly recommend this cd to anyone who likes Blondie and anyone who likes any of the current divas in music!

a gem,

I was mesmerized by her throughout the entire performance. The music was tight, the photography was concert-like, but the main attraction was, of course, Deborah Harry. She is a marval! She has the voice that can kill, or lull you to sleep at will. Her facial expressions rival bigscreen actresses in the ability to convey emotions, and she can dance! I loved watching her move, even though a bit subdued from younger days, the sensuallity and delivery of the songs was overpowering to me, actually brought me to tears. I loved this DVD, from start to finish and highly recommend it to anyone that loves to see music performed by a great rock band and sung buy a lovely rock (new wave?) diva with more soul than a bag-full of gospel choirs. Watch out Peggy Lee. Debbie is bad! Debbie is cool! Debbie can dance! Debbie is movin into the blues. Blondie is very alive and well, and I'm glad. Thankyouverymuch.

Slow Start-but then look out.!,

I am a big BLONDIE fan and have been for many, many years(no i'm not going to say how many!).I probably have rated this DVD and their show around four and ahalf stars if possible.Clem Burke gave one heck of a performance,he has lost none of his intensity. The other group members both old and new were also very good but he definately showed the most enthusiam.Debra seemed a little strained on the first two and three songs(of course this could just be persona showing through also). She started to really open up and get into touch with the audience and this is something she is a master at.She took the show over and the entire band gave us glimpse into what has made them of the original and greatest Punk rock groups around.May groups like BLONDIE keep playing until they have to wheel them out on stage and they have to have nurses standing by backstage(the last reference to Debra's own statement at a concert about having their pace makers checked before their encore-no insult intended!). ROCK ON!

After buying (and enjoying) "Blondie Live", I was very impressed with the video accesory. Not only does it include most of the same songs, it shows the group at their best--on stage. This document of the group's No Exit World Tour will not let down any fan, or simple viewer.

Awesome Rock and Roll!,

Even if you are not a Blondie fan, you need to check this one out. This is what any Rock and Roll band should try for. The sound quality is first rate: as is the proformance. The Band is top notch, as is the campiness and pipes of Debbie Harry. A tight, tight show, photographad very well. Also to mention: the performance of Clem Berke on drums, justgreat>. If you love rock and roll as I do, this is a must have.

I finally got to see my favourite band of all time back in November 98.When i saw this DVD advertised i just had to have it.Seeing Debbie and the boys giving it some was magnificent.I especially enjoyed again the songs 'Shayla'/'Union city blue' , 'X Offender' and the musically sensational 'Atomic' with Clem Burke peerless on drums. The close up shots on stage made you feel you were actually playing with these rock and roll legends .I wished i was !!!! I RATE IT 5 STARS ,BRILLIANT ,BUY IT TODAY.

Blondie's Back!,
By John Corniello (Wallingford, CT United States) - See all my reviews

Nothing is better than having Blondie back after 16 years and this concert surely proves that BLONDIE IS BACK. Debbie and the band perform all of their hits plus tunes from their recent No Exit album and Debbie never sounded better. Best performances shown are "One Way or Another", "Call Me", and "Rip Her to Shreads". Blondie proves that the pioneers of punk/rock/pop are as strong if not stronger than they were before. A definite must for both old and new Blondie fans.

Nothing is Real about this Track Listing,
By
This review is from: Blondie: Live in New York (DVD)
Newer versions may have corrected the track listing which is where the the Product Details get their information, however the actual track listing on this DVD is as follows:Introduction Dreaming Hanging on the Telephone Screaming Skin Forgive and Forget Shayla/Union City Blues Sunday School Maria Call Me Boom Boom in the Zoom Zoom Room In the Flesh Rapture Rip Her to Shreds X-Offender Atomic One Way or Another Heart of Glass There is a bonus music video, there are song lyrics (for only 4 songs), there are photos (3) but no DVD-Rom features or web links that I can detect. The DVD itself: this is very high-energy performance with a very hot Deborah Harry (litterly) working up a storm with her audience and she and the band largely succeed in showing that "you can go back". I was especially impressed with her handling Maria and the high vocals that are a part of that song. The band did great too reproducing the special sounds of that song. On the subject of the band, I do think they played too loud at times. DB's vocals seem to get lost in places. The guitars are too lound IMO, although I can appreciate that may be meant to be part of the sound. If you can handle the predominant 'product placement' of a certain radio station (this DVD should actually be lower in price then) you are in for great sound and visual experience. This is far better than the bootlegs I trade and you'll be directly supporting the band!

Blondie is better on DVD,
By Daniel Horn (Barnet, Herts United Kingdom) - See all my reviews

At long last a real Hi-Fi version of a BLONDIE concert captured on DVD. If your a Blondie fan old or new this is an absolute must. The whole production has been put together surperbly and the result is a tight sound with a real presence and filming showing each performers especially Clem and Debbie really going for it.
