DO not be fooled! This video hits collection has really no extra footage of anything that no Blondie fan has not already seen! The picture quality is no better! You are better off buying Blondie's Greatest Video Hits Collection than anything else! I even thought the sound quality to Heart of Glass was actually bad compared to that of the Greatest Video Hits Collection. The only thing that I really liked about this video collection was the way they re-did the Tide is High video. Other than that, don't waste your money even at the very low price! I would recommend to any Blondie fan to buy or stick with their Greatest Video Hits Collection.

EXCELLENT DVD FOR IT'S PRICE!!,

This review is from: Blondie: Video Hits (DVD)
When I saw this DVD I was anxious to see if it would contain the original full length versions of the clips, not the lousy versions of the Greatest Video Hits that have that annoying taxi cab driver between the songs.
It was nice to finally see the full length version of "Heart Of Glass" with the original audio track, not the one on GVH. They skipped the intro on "Atomic" so it starts the way the single version does. "The Tide Is High" is an alternate version than the one seen on compilations such as "The Best Of Blondie" and "The Complete Picture", this one is basically a montage of other Blondie clips with the chorus part taken from the original clip. The other three videos were simply taken from the "Greatest Video Hits" DVD shown in their entire format which is nice. I hope that EMI-Capitol will release a DVD that will contain all of Blondie's clips in their entire format, the way they did with Pat Benatar. It would be nice if they could also include Debbie's clips as a solo artist.

Worth it for "The Tide Is High" video,
By
This review is from: Blondie: Video Hits (DVD)
I got hold of a PAL version of the disc from Australia.
Now there is not much point buying this if you already have the Blondie: Greatest Video Hits DVD collection, but if you are a big fan it is essential for the alternative video to "The Tide Is High". Other than that the other videos here are virtually the same as on the other DVD collection. But at a great price it is a fantastic bargain for the casual buyer with an interest in Blondie's music. It's a shame "Call Me" is not included, it wasn't included on the Greatest Video Hits release either. I am pretty sure a video for the song exists, I seem to remember seeing it on MTV. Lastly, a warning. Avoid the PAL pressing, there is something wrong with the playback of the Australian (Pal) disc. All videos seem to skip a frame during playback and it gives a jerky effect. At first I thought my laser lens was faulty but I checked the disc on two other machines and it did the same on them also. The same videos on the other "Blondie: GVH" DVD all play smoothly. I will have to ditch the PAL disc and order the NTSC pressing, hopefully the problem does not effect the NTSC disc, I did not read any complaints of the problem from any of the reviews listed here. Added - 30th September 2005 Finally just received the NTSC disc from USA. It plays perfect without any of the glitches that effected the PAL disc from Australia. Avoid the PAL pressing and get the NTSC edition only.

One complaint,

This review is from: Blondie: Video Hits (DVD)
The only complaint I have about this DVD is that some of the songs appear to have been taken from the 1981 "Best of Blondie" video, the one featuring the cabbie. "Heart of Glass" is great because it includes the very beginning of the song and it's the original version. When "Hanging on the Telephone" starts though you can hear the very last part of "Picture This". "Picture This" was the song that immediately preceded "Hanging on the Telephone" on the 1981 "Best of Blondie" video. The first couple drumbeats from "Dreaming" are missing too because in the 1981 video the ending of "Heart of Glass" and the beginning of "Dreaming" kind of overlapped. Atomic is missing its very beginning too. Even with those missing elements I still think this is an excellent DVD, a must for any Blondie fan.

This is worth buying if your a serious blondie fan. This video compilation includes the complete videos for Heart of Glass, The Tide is High, and Rapture. All the other videos were taken from the greatest hits video compilation. The Heart of Glass audio is in it's original mono version and the original Disco Version (unlike the remixed version on the greatest hits taken from the album version which had horrble audio editing), You won't find this video in this condition anywhere else. The tide is high video is the version they show in clubs featuring stills from the Eat to the Beat videos and a few scenes from the original video. Rapture is complete and the sound on all other videos is 5.1.

This is a good video summary of Blondie's better songs. A worthwhile purchase for this price.

It's like seeing old friends,
This review is from: Blondie: Video Hits (DVD)
It's nice to see some clips from Blondie, the best of the new wave bands from the late 70's and early 80's. Blondie was a pioneer in music videos in the days before MTV. Most of the videos in this compilation are simply shots of the group performing, and the rest are certainly crude and uninspired by today's standards. But it is a hoot seeing Deborah Harry and the boys in action, and hearing classics like "Heart of Glass" and "The Tide Is High". The DVD is very short, not much more than thirty minutes. But it's a lot of fun nonetheless and a must for fans of that bygone era.

Not a good video. Cheap clips of something filmed from someones old tv is what it looked like. Not worth the money.

This DVD has only 6 tracks: Heart of Glass, Hanging on the Telephone, Dreaming, Atomic, The Tide is High, and Rapture.
You can find these same videos on "Blondie: Greatest Video Hits" 2002 from the label Chrysalis, with 10 additional videos! Or you can find these same videos on "Blondie: Greatest Hits: Sound and Vision" 2006 Capitol Records double CD/DVD package. The DVD has these and 10 additional videos! There is not reason to buy this DVD when you can get this and more on other releases. |
