This review is from: Blood Alone, Vol. 4 (Paperback)
I adore this series. Misaki has to be one of the cutest manga vampires ever. An innocent kind of cute with pretty obvious feelings towards Kuroe. Even if he is a little too naïve to see it.
There's just something touching about the art, the emotion, the styles, the body language. Even something as simple as the borders and in between the panels being black when it's night. I'm not sure how to explain it really so I won't try. But I do know Kuroe is one very clueless guy.
I see some very interesting twists in this if they really want to dig into it. With his sister being the biggest twist they could throw in. Misaki is already a great character as far as I am concerned, and while her emotions are pretty evident and innocent in their own way, that would probably drastically change if her vampire self was more in control. Or should I say Straruda. The more she is hurt, the more it could take over and we'd lose the little one that is so cute.
And jealousy is an ugly beast. You can already see it here and there. Definitely she feels it towards Sainome. Although, personally, I think she should look out for Higure and to some degree maybe even Maria. No matter how much you love someone, jealousy can rear its ugly head and while there isn't much normal folk can do in reality, with her power to capture Kuroe's heart by force if she really wanted... it could be an even more interesting story down the line. Try to keep someone by force, making them somewhat less of the person than what they were? Or let them go if that is what they choose?
But you could also throw in the fact of her particular blood line's ability and what it seemed to have done to Maria. Maybe her turning Kuroe into a Renfield wouldn't cause him such trauma. If it came down to letting him die, or turning him into a Renfield, what would she choose? And if you wanted a reality check on that, what would you do in that situation? Just ideas, not sure where the story will go. We never are...
I'm sad to see no release date for volume 5 yet, despite the fact it's out over seas. I guess I just have to wait.
