Book Description

Jamie Stone has one friend left, Amy Davidson, and she’s not sure she is his friend anymore. After all, he killed her and now her ghost, or spirit, or whatever she is, seems to be stuck visiting him in jail. Amy hadn’t been planning to die that day, but she had been to confession the previous Sunday and knew she should by rights be in Heaven. But if she is, life in Heaven is as confusing as life on Earth because her afterlife hasn’t come with an instruction manual. It’s come with a one-on-one connection with her killer, who used to be her best friend and now is the only person who can see her, hear her, and possibly help her figure out how to get wherever it is she needs to go.

3.0 out of 5 stars Didn't live up to my expectations, but a nice book November 7, 2012

I have mixed feelings about this book. It disappointed me a little. It didn't live up to my expectations.
The beginning was rather boring and the writing was confusing and it often seemed like something was missing, like words or even sentences had been forgotten. I couldn't get the meaning of some things. And I didn't like either of the characters. Then it get slightly better towards the middle of the book and I was totally hooked by then. I liked how Amy and Jamie's relationship grew and got deeper and they got closer.
It wasn't a great book, but I sure wanted to know what would happen next and how it would end.
And about the ending... it was somehow expected I guess, though I wasn't completely satisfied... It didn't answer a few questions: Did they both go to Heaven? Or did they get to have another chance at a new life? Or did she go to Heaven but he did not? Or maybe they both stayed in Purgatory, waiting to get to Heaven one day?

4.0 out of 5 stars Something Different, in a good way November 13, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I wasn't sure what to expect from this author. There were only a couple of reviews so I pretty much just hoped for the best. I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. I was hooked from the beginning and never thought it was boring. The dream snippets at the beginning of each chapter are sometimes scary, sometimes sad. I loved that Amy never gave up on Jamie despite her having every reason to hate him and I felt for Jamie and all he'd gone through as a bullied kid. Amy does have a deep religious faith that is a huge part of the story so if you're not into that this might not be the book for you.

I thought it was thought provoking and the friendship between Amy and Jamie is very sweet. I would definitely recommend this story especially to teens.

More About the Author

Kelly McClymer fell in love with Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White as a child. Her most prized possession is her copy of The Complete Tales of the Brothers Grimm. These are the stories which gripped our ancestors as they huddled around the fire at night, which taught countless children to persevere through hardship and succeed against the odds. Her favorite fairytale remains "The Six Swans" -- where a young sister must not speak a word for six years in order to save her brothers from their stepmother's evil spell.
