A Vampire Hangout, Blood Bar...
And a sexually bent woman, Kim Bennett...

Blood Bar by Norm Applegate
"Move towards me, tilt your head, I'm feeling greedy; give me all of you."

Blood Bar is Norm Applegate's third book. It's a vampire thriller about a woman Erin Roberts, who never smiled a day in her life except when she was killing vampires. Expect a healthy dose of action: murder, sharp blades, carve in, carve out, blood spills, graphic, sexual.

More About the Author

Norm Applegate

I live in Sarasota, and I write thrillers, horror and paranormal books. My Into the Basement, novel is about abduction, torture and murder. I also wrote Blood Bar, which is about vampires and a different kind of club. Into the Spell, is a hypnosis paranormal thriller, you know, the dark side of the occult.

My latest book is First To Die, a vampire adventure not for vegetarians. It's a bit more violent and juicy than my other books, but there is a sliver of breathing room. Expect a lot of violence, knives, pain, carve in, carve out. My Kim Bennett is a bent woman.

I'm also a Mac Fanatic. Smooth Jazz enthusiast. Drummer. Horror Movie Fan.

Norm's writing began while travelling through New Zealand and Australia as a Hypno-therapist with colorful letters to his family of his tales as a hypnotist and the weirdness it attracts. His early years in Toronto were filled with aspirations of the 60's Yorkville music scene, and as a drummer in numerous bands led to a short lived career playing the bars and clubs in the Toronto area. The band Photograph, signed to a recording studio, made some noise on the coast to coast CBC radio show, the Entertainers. In 1973 the band worked with Canadian artist & producer Tony Kosinec, (All Things Come From God), and after legal issues strangled them into submission, they went their separate ways. The band members were George Szabo and Stan Meissner, (Stan later wrote for Céline Dion, LeeAnn Womack, Eddie Money, Rita Coolidge, BJ Thomas, Ben Orr (The Cars), Triumph and Toronto). The life of drugs, sex and rock and roll were over, sad but true.

After a few years of travel, he had the bug, and entered the world of management consulting to become a road warrior, and is now a 2 million miler with Delta. Away from home and with the desire to write a novel it began. His first book, "Into the Basement," is a raw, dark thriller, described as "juicy." His second novel of the Kim Bennett series, "Into the Spell," explores the horror of a copy-cat Son of Sam killer and hypnosis. Early 2008, Norm contributed with a short story called "Jumpers," into the horror anthology "From the Shadows." In 2009, Norm developed the screenplay for his novel "Into the Basement," with Nicholas Grabowsky and director J. L. Botelho of Triad Pictures.

In 2010, he released Blood Bar, a vampire tale and wrote the screenplay for a short horror film, Grotto.

In 2011, Norm released First to Die the forth in the Kim Bennett novels. Also in 2011, Into the Basement was translated and released in Turkey with a new title, Sadist. It's available at 94 D&R books stores throughout Turkey and Turkish web sites.

2.0 out of 5 stars Convoluted and Confusing, June 14, 2009
This review is from: Blood Bar: A Vampire Tale (Paperback)
This was one of the more confusing vampire books I've read in some time. The reviews on Amazon were a tad misleading, and I'm not certain whether or not I was expecting too much out of "Blood Bar" as a result, or it if was just a matter of taste -- the plot was innavigable, and the characters unapproachable. I'd much rather have seen this book go through a better editor to tidy up the plot-threads, not to mention the endless maze of tenses and grammar flaws.

There's a surprising lack of sex, too, given how it's portrayed, and the little that it is comes across as awkward rather than really erotic. In terms of adult content, it makes up for it in the gore, which ends up over the top and unnecessary.

It's not horrible, but not the best book one can find in the realm of paranormal thrillers. More like a 2.5.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vampires Do Exist!, May 18, 2009
This review is from: Blood Bar: A Vampire Tale (Paperback)
Blood Bar by Norm Applegate

Kim Bennett is about to discover a world that humans do not know exist, and she is not even so sure she believes what she is destined to be a part of. When an old friend, Rose, calls to tell Kim about a murder and that she is needed to help find out who killed Rose's lover, Kim will find more things out about her ancestry and her future in a very short amount of time. Dodging being killed herself, and trying to find all the pieces to The Black Testament in order to understand her fate, she falls in love with the most powerful vampire in the city.

Always on the run, Kim has to stop running and face the facts. A blood thirsty blood doll is ready to jump in for the kill, and a Native American detective that sees "things", wants to make a deal with the big man in charge; and the saddest part of all, a good friend is forced to kill someone she loves. But Nicolai does something sort of sadistic, in hopes of finding out the truth about Jack the Ripper, The Black Testament, and Kim Bennett.

Blood Bar by Norm Applegate is a paranormal thriller that will keep you intrigued from the start. It holds a lot of mystery and unknowns that eventually reveal themselves. A strong heroine that is used to "roughing it" in the world of S&M finally understands the reason why she is the way she is. Role playing vampires, or do vampires really exist? Dive in to the world and mind of Norm Applegate as he paints vivid pictures of blood, gore, and sex, in Blood Bar. 4.5 Hearts

5.0 out of 5 stars Blood Bar makes me want to be Kim..., April 25, 2009

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Blood Bar: A Vampire Tale (Paperback)
Kim Bennett rises to the occasion again in Blood Bar, the 3rd book in Norm Applegate's thriller series. Of all three incredible, thrilling, suspenseful, erotic stories, Blood Bar is my favorite. You get so caught up in the world of vampires you begin to learn the history and question page by page if this world is real. You want to be Kim discovering for yourself the intrigue and uncontrollable lust for blood and sex. Maybe I am a vampire? I look forward to #4 Mr. Applegate!!!
